    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AiB.2ACE/1067 Message Board Post: My ggrandmother,Roxie Catherine Jackson, was a niece of John Clarke Teakell & Nancy Harris. She was the daughter of Isaac Francis Jackson & Missouri Abigail Harris. In 1879, she married John Clarke Tomlin in Montgomery County,Alabama. In 1880, John & Roxie were censused in Montgomery County(Dooley) and it shows that John & his mother were born in Georgia and his father in North Carolina. John was shown to be either 22 or 23 at the time. My grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, was born in 1881 probably in either Montgomery or Macon County, Aalbama. John Tomlin died when Roy Tomlin was a small boy & there were not other children born to that marriage. I feel John Clarke Tomlin either died in Montgomery or Macon County. My problem is trying to find out who John's parents were. He had a brother named Henry and a sister. Because of the similarity in given names of John Clarke, I feel that there might be a family connection. It could be just a coincidence. I understand descendants of John Clarke Teakell & Nancy Harris settled in Freestone County. If anyone ever finds a connection between the Teakell & Tomlin families I would appreciate hearing from them. In the middle is a symbol with 'Labor Omnia Vin Cit." It appears to be some sort of tool, like two protractors one on top of the other with a small symbol in the middle. Do not know what that one is. 3. Sandy, good to hear from you. Homer and Ruth are always at the Antioch Memorial. Why don't you plan to attend. These are some of the nicest people you will ever know. AND there may be others there that knew Cleson. I am pretty sure Robbie and Kimble Knight knew him - maybe others. Remember in Claudine"s diary, she spoke several times of KWK? That was Kimble. Maybe you can talk Cindy into coming, too. The Memorial is always on the last Saturday in June and, of course, is held at Antioch Cemetery. People start arriving around 9AM and ususally leave shortly after noon. On Friday evening before the Memorial on Saturday, a bunch of us gather at the cemetery to just visit. It would be nice if you coul come for that, also. Later, Modene Susilsa@aol.com wrote: > Modine!! > > I'm Cleason's daughter, Sandy Cooper Susil (the "baby", ha ha). 2. Beverly A. Batey
    3. This was George W. Batey's wife, married in 1881. Trying to locate relatives on her side. She died in 1909 in Falls County, Texas. She was known as Katherine/Catherine Stephens/Stevens Batey. But on her marriage license her name was Cappie, on her death certificate her name was Cathel. After George died in 1904/05, don't know what county he died in, he is buried in Van Zandt County, she married a Mr. Troup in Falls County. She married George W in Smith County Texas and had several children born in Van Zandt County Texas. Who were her parents or siblings. Are they in the census? She should be in the 1870 or 1880 census. I found George and Capy with children in Falls county in the 1900 census. Thank you very much, Beverly

    1. [TXFREEST] Joseph Moreland of Freestone County
    2. Re: Joseph Moreland Joseph and Mary Ann Moreland came to Texas from Georgia in 1839 and eventually settled in Fairfield, TX. Mary Ann Lamar Moreland was the sister of Mirabeau B. Lamar, the second president of the Republic of Texas, and Joseph was appointed to public office under him. Both Joseph and Mary Ann are buried in Fairfield Cemetery and I recently located and photographed the gravesite. There were ten children in this family: Caldwell, Ella, Joseph, Rebecca, Thompson, Turner, Lucius (1837), Belinda (1839), Loretto (1842) and Mary Amelia (1846). Two of the children are buried with their parents in the family plot. Rebecca married George B. Forrest in Freestone County in 1859. Loretto married James L. Caldwell in 1863. Mary Amelia married J. R. Thompson in 1871. Although I know that some of them moved to Louisiana after the death of their parents, there were so many children in the family, I'm convinced that there are still relatives living in Freestone County. I'm hoping that someone there is researching this family and will share information with me. Joseph was the brother of Turner Moreland, my gggrandfather. I have quite a bit of well-documented information on my direct line and I will be willing to share with anyone who can help. Bill William Harral Moreland bill@eastland.net
