    1. Re: [TXFREEST] Jackson Jones
    2. Modene Thornton
    3. Have you checked to see if there is a will or an estate settlement for Nancy? If so, it would mention Jackson, if he is her son. The 1880 Freestone County census record for the household of J. J. Martin shows N. J. Jones as his sister and Jackson Jones as his nephew. This is not proof, but a strong indication that Jackson is Nancy's son. His age is listed as five. BTW, Ann Farnsworth has transcribed the entire census for 1880 Freestone County, Texas. She did a great job and FCGS offers the book for sale at a cost of $25. It contains 404 pages! Anyone researching Freestone County during that time period should order one. I've not checked to see if Jackson had children. I do have a record showing that ONE Jackson Jones married, 9 Apr 1911 in Freestone County, Florence Durbin. If this is the same Jackson Jones, I wonder if Docy Tucker died and if so, where might she be buried. I've not found a gravestone for her in Harrison Chapel Cemetery. "The old folks" told me that Jackson Jones was raised by the Martin family and that he was called "Casey Jones." You may need to use that name for your research. 2. My mother's family is from Donie. A Nanny family was from there. Some members still live in Teague. Since retiring and moving back to the Teague area, I have heard of the Monks, but don't know any of them. You did mention a Neely. My great grandmother was a Neelly from Limestone County. Do you have any info on the Neelly's? I plan to go to the Post Oak Cemetery Memorial near Donie in a couple of weeks. Will probably see some of the Nanny/Williams family. Any specific questions? 3. I have found out that the district clerk in Erath County is destroying old files. They say they don't have to keep files after a certain date. I know that I found some very important information on family members by looking directly at these files. I don't know if she is the only district clerk doing this but we knew to let her and others know how important this information is. Thanks for any advice. ----- Original Message ----- From: <JLKB@aol.com> To: <TXFREEST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 18, 2003 8:15 PM Subject: [TXFREEST] Bill to Impede Research in TX > I got this from another list. > > SB 174 sponsored by Senator Jane Nelson of Flower Mound will impede > genealogical research in TX.
