Aug 4, 1893 and died near Round Rock . Tx. on Aug 23, 1917. He was reared principally near Cotton Gin. As a child he was lovable, pleasant and agreeable in youth, as a young man of clean morals. He was c verted and joined the Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 12 years. His childish faith clung onto the father until he reached manhood. Then with a firmer grip it broadened into not only into the living faith but brought a vision to his soul and began to lay a foundation upon which he proposed to build for God. He pastored looking into the soul of his youthful member, his next thought stamped into the deep recesses of his heart and noble resolution to put God first in his life. Though took him into his confidence and made him his bosom friend and was fixing to work out those principles of righteousness that God has written on his heart. At the age of 17 Luther entered Baylor University and spent 3 years at the institution. During those years he duly accepted both students and teachers. It was during those college days while making his home with the lord that he came into our own l es and strengthen the ties of kinship so that not death could sever. That the Lord gave and he hath taken away. Thy will oh lord and not ours that must be done. The citizenry and the business circles in Waco and during his short career as a businessman he took it unto himself that he won the confidence and admiration of the businessman of his adopted city. He was married to Miss Pearl Haddack, daughter of Mr. Mrs. D.A. Haddack of New Hope Community on Sept. 8, 1916. Those eleven months of married life were so pleasant and happy that pen can not describe. So devoted was he that spared no effort to make the girl of his choice love life more day by day. The cause of his death was the result of the oncoming automobile accident. The machine was driven by his pastor, turned over twice, hurling its victim to death without a moment’s notice. Those of us who mourn shall feel grateful indeed that the fact t t our loved one was sure and steadfast. As he lived so let us live. And in eternity we shall meet. To the grief stricken pastor whose machine ended the life of his dear friend we would offer the book of comfort. For you it would have been better r Luther to have remained but for him it was better for him to depart and to be with Christ. His Uncle

    3. Posted on: Freestone County Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/FreestoneObits/98 Surname: Kelley, Wade ------------------------- I have no connection to this man. Fairfield Recorder, Fairfield Texas Friday, October 2, 1925 IN MEMORY OF MR. THOMAS KELLEY When the dark winged reaper of death takes away the infant or child in it’s tender years, in it’s innocent and purity as the dues of mourn the hang tremulous on flower and thorn dissapears before yon great eliminator of day or the youth in it’s teens luxuriance and beauty and hope brimming with light that sparkles in the eyes as new made mind. For those that have passed the midday of life in assurance of an abundance harvest having sewn well good seed with great promise of ample fruition we stand awe stricken in aghast stupefied and lost in the mystery of life and death. But when those who have passed the mourning, noon, and midday of life wrap their draperies about and lie down as it were to pleasant dreams at the evening hour as the quiet shadows hoover over all the starry spheres when lifes short day is done our hearts are been none. Bruised and bleeding with sorrow and subdued saddness that those whom we love are here no more Has the night wind sang with a gentle unknown love in our carmale moments we admit god knew best and took them home. Mr. Thomas KELLEY died at his home in Teague Sept. 4, 1925 at 7:30 o’clock of appoplexy. He had been in declining health for ten years . His remains were interred in the Pyburn Cemetery on Sept. 5, at 4:00, Rev. VAUGHN officiating. In the presents of a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. Mr. KELLEY was born Nov. 28, 1848 in Choctaw County Alabama. Had he of lived until Nov. he would have been 77 years of age. He joined the Baptist Church in early childhood. He was preceeded to a better world by one son who died at the age of eleven years. He was married to Mrs. Eliza Alice WADE at Thornton, Limestone County Texas Jan. 8, 1888. To this union there were born three children: John and Clara KELLEY, the other deceased. He had been a resident of Texas for forty-five years. He had suffered days, weeks, and months from illness of age and infirmities. None but god and the pitting angels knew of his intense sufferings. All that loving hands and medical skill could do could not releive him til god released him from his pain and took him away. It was our pleasure and privalge to know this good man for some years as a friend, neighbor and man. His home life comported with his religious life, quite, gentle, loving and forgiving. Our friend was not one of the illustrious or great of earth as the world knows it. He was an humble way to god, the way the savior trod his pass way set with many and un hewn stone thru dark and dismissal haunts and windings of labor and aversity but in the depths and darkness recesses he saw and followed his star, the one, the wise man saw, the star of Bethleham. If faults he had or did he err twas of the head and not of the heart. Tis said the wisest and best have erred. He belived in the universal brotherhood of man the one thing now so needful to this sin cursed world. For the wife, the mother who has walked thru all these years as it were thru the velley and shadow of death by his side who has shared lifes joy and sorrows, who has mingled in their grief , the gate way of eternity stands ajared just there. The pathway of lives is scarcely visible when compared to that beyond. Twill not be long till you meet him over there where your children and friends are at rest by the side of the river of life, where the saints all emortal and fair are robed in their garments of white. To the children who stand at the brink of the great chasm a cross whos bourne none ever come, where the century of death holds the past till mortality she’ll take on immortality till he of the key embar sets the heavenly gate ajar. I can not say weak not for it is the only relief for a breaking heart, but thru your grief and tear dimmed gaze though you see but dimmly hear behold in the darkness of dispair for in the darkest places the light shines brightest, that star which he followed him you see the same that shown on judea’s hills in light of the way of all the earth, follow thou you shall meet again, no mighty rich nor squalied poor each shall have his laurels square. The crown of life shall deck each brow, there will be no difference there. Sleep on my friend in perfect peace. From Eartthly Fetters free until the trump of god shall sound the last reveille.

    3. Posted on: Freestone County Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/FreestoneObits/92 Surname: Peyton, Watson ------------------------- I have np connection to this family. Fairfield Recorder, Fairfield Texas Friday, September 11, 1925 TRIBUTE TO MEMORY OF MRS. FRANK B. PEYTON Into life and into the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. WATSON of Fairfield came Annilee on the 16 day of Jan. 1894. In the boson of this large happy devoted family her young life matured and grew rich in the heritage of honored family tradition and splendid training. Born to cultrure and trained in the love of helpfullness to humanity and personal attainments, she rapidly gave her self to the study and cultivation of the beautiful in life. Beneath her gladdening smile with which she greeted all a heart of golden values extended it’s self to every worth while thing. School days in the old school house on the hill organized her thinking, aided in sementing the virtues she learned at home and gave rise to a dozen happy friendships that neither time nor death can erase. Annilee cultivated a taste for good reading and loved books, art, poetry, and music for the inspiring sentiments to which they gave rise. In the very bloom of young womanhood she with many of the young friends accepted christ as her savior and united with the Baptist Church. This faith and beautiful trust in her saviors redeeming love soon proved it’s self in religious works and she gave unsparingly of her time and energy to teaching in the Sunday School and active participation in B. Y. P. U. Epworth Lee and other church activites. Here the writer can not refrain from personal reminiscences, for he remembered so pleasantly how carefully, patiently and affectively she taught his Sunday School class when he was a small boy. A few years later she became a member of the Eastern Star Chapter. Her activities extended also to public school teaching and to this work she gave several years of her life. In the happy years before she was twenty there sprang up a friendship between her and one who had already, in his quiet pleasant way, won the admiration of all who knew him. This friendship grew as happy friendships will until Annilee and Frank were sweet hearts indeed, and all their friends agreed and were glad over there lovely courtship. In July 1915 she recieved her engagement ring and we understand now the glad fervency with which in young peoples religious meetings they repeated in unison. The lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from the other. A little more than a year after the engagement Miss Annilee WATSON and Mr. Frank B. PEYTON were united in marriage by Rev. D. A. DICKEY with an impressive ring ceremony and a beautiful church wedding Aug. 15, 1916. She who had so joycely recieved the engagement ring now happily took the band of gold and understood full well it’s significants while she vowed more fervently with her heart than her lips could express. Till death do us part while he who loved her so in his heart and lifes proposed said. She is immortally my bride chance can not change my love not time and pear. In Fairfield among relatives and friends they built their home and love nest each separately and both together. Taken up the whole duties as man and wife, good neighbor and worthy citizen. Into the home Frank Jr. was born on June 29, 1918 and Gertrude Annett on July 18, 1920. Father and Mother loving conspired to devote themselves to the love and care and proper rearing of these two children and it is here we see the glories of motherhood transfigured in the life of Annilee. Unsparing of her self she devotely gave her help and incouragement to her husband and especially so in his trying and sorrowful year of 1920 when buisness prospects were worst than gloomy and death took his dear sister, Juanita. It is no wonder we give all praise to wives and mothers who love with out reservation sacrifice to the utter most and lay lasting foundation for lovely manners and christian ciizenship in their children. Now strangley must come the parting time when the best are betaken from us and shadows of sorrow and tribulations gather thick and furiously about us and we almost despare. In the mist of beautiful life when it seemed she was most needed Mrs. PEYTON fell into the last long sleep. Beautiful in life and daunted by fear of death she made the last great sacrifice and died with christian fortitude . The blow was crushing and to her young husband and dear aged mother the clouds were to dark for a silver lining. Faith in God and tender sympathy of their host of friends alone sustains them but they will continue with fortitude to bear up their great rugged cross and through face exchange it someday for a crown. The life of the young wife and mother is not lost but in eternity it shall continue to bloom while in the hearts and memories of her children and other loved ones her life shall continue as a sweet fragrance of spring flowers.
