Posted on: Freestone County Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/FreestoneObits/194 Surname: Dunlap, Stagner ------------------------- No relation to me 3 May 1918 The Teague Chronicle Sister M.M. Dunlap M.M. Dunlap was born May 28, 1842 in Jefferson Co. Tenn., came to Texas in August 1886, was married to J.W. Dunlap, joined the church at an early age. She united with the Cedar Creek Baptist Church March 1904. She was a devoted member till God called her away yet it had not been her privilege to attend the church very often in the last few years, she made her home at Dew with her daughter, Mrs. Stagner. She was taken sick in her home and just lived a few days. Everything that loving hands and medical aid could do was done to no avail. Sister Dunlap departed this life March 6, 1918. She left to mourn for her four children, a number of grandchildren and a host of friends. Grieve not for she is not dead but just asleep with Jesus to awake in the reserection morn. There is a vacant place in the home and a vacant seat in the church that can never be filled. Weep not children and friends, our, I insure is heavens gain. We cannot call her back but let us all be prepared to meet her in that sweet home where there will be no more parting. Resolved that a copy of this be sent to the Teague Chronicle, a copy be spread on the church book, and a copy be sent to the bereaved family. Josie Miller E.V. Jolly W.W. McKay Committee

Since I posted this message, I have received much additional information, to the same effect as yours. A Hiram H. Mullenax had (Hiram Jackson Mullenax, who married a Nancy Caroline Turner), who had several children, incl (Turner M. Mullenax, who married a Martha Delphenia Hosmer), and George Vallie Mullenax(all of his family appear to be buried in the now-defunct Mullenax Cemetery,Leon Co.). BUT, an actual burial site for Turner M. Mullenax has not been found. There is a Leon Co. Census report, 1910, which has him living with his daughter and son-in-law, John Carlton Dyess, in Centerville. Is there a chance Turner is buried in the Dyess Cemetery at Pleasant Ridge?? Thanks. Mark

The dear little one had only been with them about 5 months. The death resulted from a bronchial trouble. Weep not dear parents and loved ones for our loss has been her heavenly gain. The little remains were laid to rest Sun. evening in Salem cemetery four and one half miles south of Teague in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends. In that little coffin lay the one we loved so dear. It is hard to give up the little darling but the dear lord knew best and took the little one home where it will suffer no more pain but it will rest in the arms of the blessed lord to await the coming of the loved ones. She is not dead but merely sleeping with Jesus where all may dwell some day if they will. We will all have to pay the debt this little one has so let us all be prepared for when the flower has wilted the lord will open the gate to all who knock. Sleep on sweet babe and take thy rest, God called you home, he thought it best. A Friend
