I can not vouch for this information as I received it on the web. "California Welch was the daughter of John B. Welch, B 1815-16 in TN. Married on 5-22-1841 in Barry County, Mo to Margret Stone. First born child was a boy so I am guessing California was born 1842 or 1843." Hope you can go from here but as I said please check this for accuracy.

    3. Posted on: Freestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Freestone/529 Surname: BERRY, BLACK, GREEN ------------------------- Hi, Bob, I believe we are related. I assume you are Rich Black's grandson; if so, Rich and my Dad, Edgar Black, were first cousins. Perhaps the little I know of the Stantons will be helpful; I hope so. I remember Aunt Bet well; I carried my Daddy to visit her many times during the 1950's. Are you aware that her parents, along with a sister, are buried at Mt. Zion, east of Fairfield on Hwy 84? R. M. Stanton, Dec 26, 1842-Mar 26, 1919 Hellon Carolyn Stanton, 1852-1877 Helen G. Stanton, 1869-1871 They are not buried together. Mother and child are together, I believe about midway of the cemetery and almost directly in front of the gate, but I can't remember where he is. And I may be confused about the locations; it's been many years since I was there. I'm sure you are aware of Aunt Bet's brother, Dick (Richard) Stanton and his wife (was her name Jenny also?) who lived West of the railroad tracks in Teague. Dick's wife, and I'm not sure of her name right now, was waiting at the post office when it opened every morning at 8 o'clock. I worked at First National Bank, just across the street, for 16 years and she never missed. This would have been in the 50's and 60's. I'm sure you know how complicated some of our Black family relationships are; I've always been especially intrigued by the one of Melvin and Jenny (Stanton) Black. Two Black brothers and one sister married two Berry girls and one brother. After Melvin's death, Jenny married Walter Berry, the son of Melvins's sister, Mollie, and George Berry. Walter had a sister, Eunice, who later married Jenny and Melvin's son, Melvin Black, which made Jenny the mother-in-law and the sister-in-law of Eunice! No wonder that we can't solve the Black puzzle! By the way, we have a Black e-mail research group, all descendants of Benjamin, his brother, Alexander, or Alexander Frierson Black, whom we believe to be the nephew of Benjamin and Alexander, although unable prove it. We have put together a database of about 3,000 Blacks and are working to prove the information we have and to find the parents of Benjamin. Let me know if you are interested in joining us and I'll send your e-mail address to the coordinator in San Angelo.
