The two unmarked graves at Antioch at Luna are probably Hansford D. and his wife, Mary Jane Shelton Owens. According to the TX Confederate Pension she received for his service in the Civil War, he died Jan. 1, 1892 in Freestone. They had one child, Celia Owens. She married John C. Gafford in 1868 in Freestone. According to the 1900 census Celia Gafford had 6 children with 3 living at that time. There is a grave for Ada Gafford at Antioch Cemetery (one of their children). I don't believe Hansford D. Owens had relatives in the area. He was born in 1825 in MS- they married in Lauderdale Co., MS- lived in Ashley Co., AR before moving to Freestone in 1862 with her brother, Isaac W. Shelton and family. Would like to correspond with anyone about these families. Thanks. Jonelle Aaron

    3. Posted on: Freestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Freestone/572 Surname: Keys, Wilburn, Goulding, Wilson, Hardy ------------------------- Small World! I, too, have stayed in that house of Ona Colgin and Robert Keys. Robert was a grandson of Thomas Keys and Martha Ann Wilburn, and so was my grandfather, Joe Keys. Joe lived just a few blocks away from Bob and "Cousin Ona," as everyone called her, and many a night I fell asleep at their house while the grownups played "Forty-Two." In 1976 my parents returned to Teague and bought the house across 4th Avenue, that used to be the Wilson house (my parents' name is Wilson, too, but no relation). Then my aunt bought what used to be Cousin Ona and Bob Keys house, and she lived there from 1982 until last year. So my family and I have spent many, many nights in that house. My father died and mother moved to Beckville to be near my brother, and last year my aunt sold the house and moved there too. I think my aunt may have a picture of Ona in her collection; I'll check when I go back up there. So nice to meet you. I plan to go back to Cotton Gin Cem. and will try to find Lillian's headstone and photograph it. If you are interested in the Freestone County Keys line, I will be happy to send what information I have. I have Martha Ann Wilburn's line back to Germany in the 1600s but haven't been able to take the Keys line further back than Thomas's Grandfather. Good luck in your search. Helen Dearing

Yes, Tom and Mamie Keys are part of my Keys family and are buried in Cotton Gin Cem along with my other Keys relatives. I have pictures of their headstones, near his father and mother, John C.C. Keys and Mary Jane Boyd. Tom's sister, Delilah Keys, also married a Whatley, Walter Franklin, and their brother, James M., was your father??? Did I ever send you the GedCom file on the Keys connection? I know I intended to but sometimes I just procrastinate until I totally forget. Love, your Cousin in Law, Helen Dearing

    3. In which Antioch Cemetery do you supposed they are buried? There are three Antioch cemeteries in Freestone County. One north of Teague, one at Luna and one at Turlington. There are two "unmarked" graves in Antioch at Luna that were designated by John Calvin Knight as "Mr. and Mrs. Owens."
