    3. Posted on: Freestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Freestone/10593 Surname: BOUNDS, CAVANESS, FULTON ------------------------- It's funny how you mention a rumor about G.W. Bounds leaving his wife with one child. My gggrandfather's name was William R. Bounds but no record of my gggrandmother who was a cherokee. My Bounds descendants are from Jesse Bounds who came to America with his brothers John and James from Wales in 1736. According to some historical records handed down through the family, James and Jesse Bounds fought in the American Revolution as well as the war against the Indians. I have a theory that some people are offended by, but maybe you wouldn't be since your ggrandmother was perhaps in the same predicament. My theory (and I have reasons for thinking this), is that some of the Bounds men had both a wife and an Indian squaw. The Bounds descendants in my family ventured into Indian territory and I think they had children with Indian women but often left them.
