The only thing I can add is about the first wife of Elisha Hobbs. Her name was spelled many different ways (diza, disa and disey). Her maiden was Hoover. She was the sister to my gggg grandmother, Rebecca Hoover Hamilton who was married to Isaac Hamilton. These Hamiltons lived in Limestone county.     3. Hey folks Does anyone have any infomation on an Outlaw Jim Miller? He evidently had quite a reputation and supposedly killed his brother-in-law in Plum Creek, Texas. I thought if someone has a biography they have written, that would be an interesting item to include on the Freestone Co. pages. Thanks jimmy

    2. Milinda Elizabeth Willard, daughter and oldest child of William Willard and Lovey Duggan, was born 4 July 1832 in TN and died 19 September 1905 Freestone Co., TX. She is buried in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield, TX. In Tennessee she lived with her grandmother, Elizabeth Duggan, until her death and then with her uncle, James Duggan, for many years. Her sister, Margaret L. Willard, was also living with the uncle in 1860. After coming to Texas from Cannon Co., TN about 1870, Milinda lived with her sister Margaret L. Willard Orand and her husband W. H. Orand in the Ward Prairie Community in Freestone Co. Milinda married Elisha Hobbs when she was 50 years old and moved to Fairfield. William Willard (1811 TX - 1897 TX) had 18 children: 6 by Lovey Duggan (ca. 1815 TN - bef. 1842 TN) and 12 by Telitha Summers (1825 TN -1898 TX). Mike

Located at the Fairfield Public Library. Hobbs, Elisha by James Scott Hobbs and Vivian Hobbs Parker "Elisha Hobbs was born in North Carolina, August 13, 1816, the son of Barnabas and Elizabeth Hobbs. The family moved to Hardin Co, Tennessee where they settled. Elisha and wife Diza immigrated to Limestone county, Texas between 1845 and 1848. They settled near present day Fairfield and received mail at the Cotton Gin Post Office. Elisha engaged in farming, cattle raising and real estate. When Freestone County was partitioned from Limestone Co. in the election of Jan 6, 1851, he was elected as one of the 4 County Commissioners. These commissioners oversaw the forming of the county precincts, the selection and naming of Fairfield as County Seat. He served in this capacity for several years. Elisha and Diza had 4 children: Elijah born in Tennessee 1841, Nancy born in Tennessee 1845, James W. born in Texas 1850, and Harvey B. born in Texas 1855. Diza passed away Oct 3, 1885 and is buried in the Salem Cemetery near Troup, Texas. During the Civil War Elisha served in the Texas Light Artillery and other Texas units. Elisha was one of the first Freemasons in Freestone Co and was quite proud of this association. He was a public spirited citizen and spent a great deal of time on public projects. Elisha and Melinda Willard were married in Fairfield, Texas on July 1886. He passed away Feb 21, 1899. Melinda survived until Sept 19, 1905. They are buried in the Fairfield Cemetery." Penalope MARTIN RAINES and the two children were listed in the l880 census for Freestone Co., however Penalope was listed as a widow. She was living in the household of her brother, Isaac Martin born l854. Both Penalope and Isaac were born in Alabama and came to Texas between l865 and l870. Another sister of Penalope and Isaac was Nancy L. E, MARTIN born cl867 in Alabama. Nancy married Davis J. BAGGETT in Freestone Co in l883, A cousin, Mary Margaret MARTIN married William Travis BAGGETT in l884. William and Davis were twins. The BAGGETT family moved to Denton Co Texas in the late l800s.
