Hi, I thought some of you might be interested in the September 17-18 German-Texan Heritage Society programs at Round Top. On Friday evening, Kathy Carter of the Fayette Heritage Archives and Museum will speak on "Round Top and Fayette County Genealogy Resources." On Saturday H.H. Howze, Winedale collections curator, will speak about "Winedale: Past, Present, and Future." Dr. Walter Kamphoefner, Professor of History at Texas A&M will present "George Schwarting of Oldenburg and Round Top: An Immigrant's Life and Adventures in Letters." There weill also be a genealogy session entitled "All I Know is Great-Grandpa Came From Germany" conducted by Liz Hicks, genealogy editor of the GTHS Journal. There will also be tours of Henkel Square and Festival Hill, as well as the Bethlehem Church and Cemetery and Round Top's Children's Library. You don't have to be a member to attend.
