Martha, I noticed your mention of the name "Brune". My g-grandfather, Jacob Poth, had a sister, Elizabeth Poth (b. 1840, d.unk). Elizabeth married a Wilhelm Brune on November 28, 1858 in New Ulm, Austin County. Together, they had at least 12 children (Eliese, Anna, Wilhelmmine, Hedwig, Maximilian, Louis, Wilmhelm, Alma, Auguste, Josepfiene, Norma, Admund) born between 1859 and 1886. Our family lost touch with the Brune family once the first cousins had all passed and I have not had the time to research them. On the slight chance that you might be related, I thought that I would present my information to you. Jacob married Anna Laake and moved to Lavaca County to establish a gin and then to Dewitt County to ranch and farm. Any chance that you might have a connection between the Poth and Brune families? Could you answer off-list? Thanks for doing that. It reminds me that when we visited the U.S.S. Arizona memorial in Hawaii, I took some photos of the memorial wall that listed the names of the men who were killed in that attack. I took them specifically of the place where a Brune man was listed, thinking he might be in my records. Brune is not a common name, so I figured he was from Texas. He wasn't in my records, so I don't remember what his first name was. I'll have to look it up, but I bet it was Adolf Brune, who is on the list you posted. If anyone is interested, I can scan the photos and email them privately. Attachments won't go through on the list.
