September 17, 2005 — Monument Hill & Kreische Brewery State Historical Sites — Monument Hill Hero's Day: The Legend Lives! — Living history demonstrations, cannon salutes, a commemorative ceremony at 11 a.m., laying of wreaths by family members at the tomb at Monument Hill and much more will be a part of a full day of activities. This event is co-sponsored by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department in partnership with Sons and Daughters of the Republic of Texas (Monument Hill Chapter); the Texas Women's League; Southwest Texas Mounted Ranging Company; and other civic and private groups and individuals. 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; reservations requested by August 15 to reserve a meal (979) 968-5658.
