I have preserved at the McCain Library at the University of Southern Mississippi two letters from William to his brother James. Excerpts from these letters can be found in the Encyclopedia of the Founding Families of the Ouachita Valley. The letters mention both sister Nancy and brother Malcolm. Brother Malcolm visited william and remarried during that time. There is also in the marriage records of Lincoln county, MS, book 4, page 184, a marriage liscense dated 1869 for M.M. Gwin and L.
