Hi, Fayette and Washington County searchers. In neighboring Washington Co., in the 1840-'50's, William Adam DINWIDDIE arrived as a leather-craftsman and saddle maker. He was age 40 when he and the widow O'BARR were married, near Burton, very close to Ledbetter, in Fayette Co. Some ties exist between these two communities, in the family records, since some the chiildren and grand-children were born in both towns. And the burials are in both Burton, and in Ledbetter, as well, in the local cemeteries, there. When the widow arrived, there were three O'BARR children, and it may be that one did not grow to full maturity, before his/her death. After the marriage, Wiliam Adam raised the O'BARR children as his own in a one-family setting, and all were treated fairly and well by him. The widow was Rebecca Catharine HAYNES O'BARR, and she has descendants with the name Catharine spelled in that way, to this date. Who were the O'BARR children who lived to full ages, and what were their lives like?? Did they stay in the area, or did they move on?? Are there O'BARR descendants reading this message?? If so, please contact me to discuss our mutual interest in these family names. And any family info which is available from the reader-ship of these boards is most welcome, to provide us with any knowledge about them which you have!! Thanks!!
