    1. FAYETTE PUBLIC LIBRARY TO CLOSE FOR MOVE TO RENOVATED FACILITY
    2. Fayette Public Library will be closed to the public from Monday, January 31, through Monday, February 21, for the move back to the renovated facility at 855 S. Jefferson in La Grange. The three-week closure will allow staff and volunteers to set up the library in the new, renovated space. The library will reopen to the public on Tuesday, February 22, at 10 a.m. The museum and archives will reopen in March. An official rededication event is planned for later in the spring. During the temporary closure, no library services will be provided to the public. This includes processing requests for library and archives materials, telephone and electronic reference services, and public Internet and email access. Checkout dates will be extended during the time the library is closed. All books, magazines, and recordings checked out from the library between January 18 and January 30 will be due back on February 22. Because of the extended loan period, there is no need to call the library for renewals during this time. The large book drop outside the Senior Citizen Center at 255 N. Franklin will be open during the move, and patrons can return borrowed items there while the library is closed. Taxpayers can continue to obtain IRS tax forms from the racks atop the book drop until the library reopens. The library welcomes community volunteers to help with the move. City crews will do all the heavy lifting and moving of boxed books, shelving, and furniture. Volunteers are needed to assemble the storage boxes and pack the library books. Volunteers are needed before and during the move. To volunteer, call the library at 979-968-3765. The staff will provide additional information, including move dates, times, and assignment schedules.
