I'm seeking any information about the families of ISAAC WILLIAMS (b. 19 August 1824 in Alabama; d. 10 November 1902 in Schulenburg, Fayette County) and his brother VALENTINE MARTIN WILLIAMS (b. 1 May 1826 in Alabama; d. 7 April 1898 in Lavaca County). The family has been in Fayette County since the late 1860s, and descendants were born there as recently as the 1980s. The brothers first arrived in Texas prior to 1860 (were in the 1860 census in Austin County). Valentine returned to Mississippi (where his father, Elijah, and Elijah's brothers settled) for several years, while Isaac and his family settled in the High Hill area of Fayette County. Valentine married in Mississippi and returned to Fayette County by 1871. Isaac's family: - wife Cornelia A. J. Armstrong (Isaac and Cornelia are buried in the Schulenburg City Cemetery); - daughter Sarah Jane, b. 1847 in MS; - son Thomas Elijah Valentine, b. 1850 in MS (married Olivia ?; had at least four children: Carrie, Isaac B., Cora, Thomas H.); - son George Marion, b. 1853 in MS (married Sarah Black; had at least one son, Walter); - son James Pinkney, b. 1854 in MS; - daughter Mary Caroline, b. 1857 in MS; - son Isaac, b., 1859 in MS (married Minervy ?; had at least one son, James G.); - son Robert W., b. 1863 in Fayette Co., TX (married Nellie ?; had at least three children: James P., L. Dale, Ellen); - daughter Martha Ann, b. 1864 in Fayette Co., TX; - son May Martin, b. 1866 in Fayette Co., TX (married Alice Emma Horton; had at least five children: Vera E., C. Eva, George E., Hughes E., Alice E.); - son Charles Overby, b. 1868 in Fayette Co., TX (married Ida May; had at least four children: Emma M., Willard Percy, Bryan Ray, Edgar Lay); - daughter Cornelia Ellen, b. 1872 in Fayette Co., TX Valentine Martin's family: - wife Josephine Rexford, b. 1847 in MS; d. 1906 in Lampasas Co., TX; - daughter Sarah Ann, b. abt. 1870 (married John William Anderson; had at least nine children: John, Julia Pearl, Ira Curtis, Robert Lee, Annie B., Minnie Etta, Charles Joseph, Roy Alonzo, William Chester); - daughter Mae M., b. 1871; - son Isaac Benjamin, b. 1875 (married Bessie Mabel O'Bannon; had at least one son, Isaac Benjamin Williams Jr.); - daughter Mary Ida, b. abt. 1876 (married Richard R. Lewis); - daughter Martha, b. abt. 1880; - daughter Jessie P., b. 1887 (married Elbert Smith); - daughter Sally, b. unknown I'll be making a research trip to Fayette County later this month.
