I found the migration date for our Keilberg's on one of the census records for Charles Louis Keilberg and I believe the same 1836 date is to be found on Otto's as well (the census asked when they came to America). I don't have the information in front of me right now (I'm at work). If you'd like, please email me at sthomas79@juno.com. I've managed to gather some data that I'd be happy to share with you. Hope to hear from you again soon. Sharlene

It is likely that "Joe" was actually Johann or Jost or Joachim, and was simply anglicized. I have a book, "Celebrating 150 Years in Texas," that was put together by Jeff and Karen Voelkel who are in Houson, Texas. I have looked through that and have found nothing. However, Voelkel is (was) a very common name in Germany, as you probably know, so there are many of them "out there." The Voelkel line of my family came to Texas in the middle of the 19th century, most of them from Erndtebruck, Germany. Perhaps that will give you something to aim for. Sorry I cannot be of help.
