Surnames: Batla, Bacak Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/mkB.2ACI/371 Message Board Post: My name is Richard Martin. I am looking for information on a Joseph Batla that married a "Frances", and had Joseph Batla, Jr., and a daughter named "Louise". I am sorry I have no further information on them than that, as it came from the recollection of an older (70's) cousin of mine. If this information is correct, Joseph Batla would be the half-brother of Anna Batla (born 1863, possibly in Jablunka, Moravia, and died 1 May 1903 in Elk, TX.) She was married to Frank M. Bacak, originally from Trojanovice, Moravia, and they married 28 Oct 1884 in Fayette County. Anna (sometimes known as Annie) is buried in Harper Cemetery in Elk, TX. If you are aware of a connection here, please let me know as I am stumped as to who Anna Batla's parents and other family were past her marriage to Frank Bacak. Thank you for your time and consideration, Richard Martin

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mkB.2ACI/359.2 Message Board Post: Brad, I have nothing about Mary Schumann but would be interested in anything that you might have about the Baumgarten clan. My grandmother(my dad's mother) was Amelia Baumgarten. She married my grandfather Joseph Sykora when her family was living in Sweet Home, Texas. Gustav was said to be a farmer there. They lived out the rest of their life in the small town of Yoakum where I grew up. Amelia had several brothers, one of whom was named William also. Amelia's father was Gustav Baumgarten, brother of Christian Baumgarten who, from what I can tell, was the original immigrant from this family to the US. This elder Christian B.had a son named Christian as well? The information I found in the library/historic center at La Grange said that the family came from Prussia/the Tartu area of Europe. They settled in the Schulenburg area and were very influential in many things there. Christian was said to be a builder who had a hand in many things there, including housing for other immigrants arriving from Europe and the original school at High Hill. The name still appears in the town. Are you from that area? I have pictures of Gustav and his wife with their family and would love to know anymore that I could about the family. You probably have all of the information I have related but thought it interesting to find someone else from this family looking for ancestors as me and my wife are.

Surnames: Fisher, Blackwell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mkB.2ACI/369.1 Message Board Post: I am the one who was confused. Thomas Dance Fisher had a son named James W. Fisher and another son named William Junius Fisher. William Junius Fisher is, of course, W. J. Fisher. He DID marry Evelyn Bomar Dycus; they DID live in Gonzales County in 1900. She applied for a Confederate pension from the state of Texas. Does anyone know if James W. Fisher died in the Civil War? He was in TX 10th Infantry Regiment, Company F. I cannot find ANY record of him other than the court cases when he was a minor, the 1860 census in Fayette County, and that he fought in the Civil War.
