If it is received just a week or so before an issue is to be out, we wait and send the new one. susan MAYESLS@aol.com wrote: > > How do we join the Fannin County Society and what is the cost? 3. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txfcgs/ is the society webpage there is a link on the Fannin County webpages' http://www.rootsweb.com/~txfannin/ its right where announcements are placed. Wait until after next tuesday. the amount probably will be 15 dollars but I am hoping lower. We paid out of our pockets the overrun money last year. It was our first year of publication. We print a copy for each member and then have about a dozen libraries that receive one. That is important for a society to do as it gets the info out there where a researcher will run into it, perhaps years later but its the way libraries get help and a common practice. So we need to go over costs . We want to keep it low as we can. That is why we don't have a rate for a couple for instance. If they only need one publication that is fine with us. We didnt' have any paid membership fee when we didn't have a publication because we had no costs. This next tuesday is a meeting that will have the elections and the discussions of what we want to do this next year as well as some training involving using the new Family History center (the equipment is there and it is beginning to be used but not yet 'offically' opened until one more shipment comes. The publication is a large enough one to make it worth it. i can't put my finger on mine (its time to clean this room up :( but I think it runs 30 pages. I am working some of the articles , for instance I am transcribing some very old newspaper articles and obits for it. Articles of interest in it and also pages of the 1910-11 county directory. As well as other lists and information. Our editor does a lot and also there are the queries and family stories and sheets from membership and members of this email list. 90% of what is in there is not in this website.
