    3. The quarterlies will be mailed this next week. We take them to the meeting and pass out those who are subscribed there and then mail the rest to save money. You will be on the list. I have two memberships that I picked up last week in my purse to give to the secretary/treasurer to process and they will be added and receive a quarterly when the mailing goes out. The local membership lives scattered over a 50 mile square. I drive two towns away to pick up the mail and another member has a key to pick up the mail if she is going by also. So then we collect all the mail / memberships, queries, advertisements and other quarterlies that are coming in exchange with our group and the next person into Bonham can make the deposits and then notify the treasurer/sec. by email. Then we do an on paper follow up to make sure the person gets on the list properly. Fannin County is a delightfully still rural type of an area. I think only a few members live inside a town city limit. Amongst the conversations you will hear a lot of gardening, stock raising, and other rural passtimes. I personally have a 'passel'of papers to take to the meeting. Someone must take a 'haul' or 'tote' the editors edition into the city somewhere to be printed and tote it back. Some of you Fannin county decendants are in a hurry~ slow down and smell the Bois d'arc :) Which reminds me, its time to take cuttings and transplant wild roses which abound in Fannin and I covet and will go after some fancy Lamar county wild roses I spotted last spring. I bet some pioneer brought the first one its a particularly beautiful white rose with vicious thorns that seems to spread only inthe NW quadrant of Lamar County. Lots of work this autumn is bringing. Let me know if anyone wants confirmation about their recent membership. I can do a check on it and get back with you wed. morn. I have the memberships of Mr. Hart & Mrs. Fugate in my purse to take into town tomorrow. Julia picked up the mail last week and mentioned she had some new memberships with her to take into town. She is sweet and my senior but much faster on the business end. She will be doing most of the mail in the future but I will keep on with the emails and be happy to check on membership or other questions anytime. It's no bother. I maybe can't find out genealogy questions you may have but sometimes I can too. PS. I'll be uploading the Fannin Memorial Gardens cemetery tonight in a bit. I will have it indexed by my 'spider ' also by midnight maybe before that. I didn't mean to read it next but went visiting out there when a group told me they would be there. A lot more folks in it than I thought! It was hot that day but worth the visit. I won't take pictures of it though. its a shameful situation right now, especially with a cemetery only developed in 1963 ! But hopefully all the problems with getting it cared for regularly will come about soon. Some things need fussing about and this is one of them. If you have an interest in this cemetery , keep watching in the announcement area of the genweb page for futher notice if they can't get things worked out. We will need a full list of folks to contact who can help with petitions or what it will take to get the care this cemetery needs. It is full of WWI and WWII veterans, they don't deserve this treatment. The first time I laid eyes on it I took it to be a Pet cemetery ! It looked like it was just some place thrown together with care on a handful of graves and the rest marked with those (in my opinion - flat uglish tombstones. Reminiscent of a parking lot.)I was so astonished to find it was a cemetery and a recent one. This glorious weather is upon us down here and the leaves are changing starting this past week! I want to rewalk white rock and set that one down as done for good. I will head to the price cemetery or beat the bushes again on the Williams and King cemetery. Oak Wood is still taunting me with its grave numbers and Ladonia I'm going to see if the kind secretary will let me copy the interment books for a complete record. Spoonamore will need a troup of hikers to find I think. I really don't want in there alone because if I go off course I'll be lost for miles. I have my old reading on Carson but a kind person has told me they will read it! Yeehaw! I moan at the site of a cemetery these days. Probably sparking creepy wonder at the moans coming from county line to county line. Which reminds me if you can come , come on for tomorrow night as I get to talk about cemeteries and why they are exciting. I guarantee you haven't heard it all! For those of you who can't come, here's an Aggie Joke for you: Texas' worst air disaster occurred today when a small two-seater Cessna 152 plane, piloted by two Texas A&M students, crashed into a cemetery early this afternoon in College Station. Aggie search and rescue workers have recovered 300 bodies so far and expect the numbers to climb as digging continues into the evening. The pilot and copilot survived and are helping in the recovery efforts. :-) Susan in Texas MAYESLS@aol.com wrote: > > Susan, will you check and see if they received my check to join. 3. We need a few more colloquialisms (I love them, but we are losing 'em). Didn't mean to put a bee in your bonnet, or cause you to get your knickers in a wad. I was raised in a poke and plumb town also-poke your head out the window and you're plumb out of town. Just teasing. Loved your joke. Thanks for all the work you do for us.
