I checked to see when the quarterlys were mailed and the secretary mailed them last saturday. She was running late again. ""Susan's all the newsletters went out last week (actually Saturday). I distributed some at the FHC training session and will bring the rest to the next meeting."" Let me know anytime you need to make an address change we have gotten a couple back with the address wrong on them. No forwarding address done so it could not be remailed. Let me know if in about 10 dys it still hasnt' arrived. And double check your subscription , so you keep track of your issues . I suspect we will be making some changes on the labels to help you keep track of issues and a better tracking system. The training meeting she mentions is the new family history center , it opens next week I believe I will get the hours and post them if any of you live close enough to use it. There is the other new research facility that will be opening at Frontier Village soon also. SOOO this area is going to have lots of places for locals to do their work and places where family group sheets and family histories can be left to be found. I know both would love copies so I will pass along info on how you can put copies at them , The sherman library also collects and catalogs them. I don't believe I have seen such at the Denison library except in book form on the shelves. Some of that will be moving to Frontier Village. They will also all be keeping a research card file of surnames and contact info so I'll pass that along when they are ready to receive them. I was the Director of the new FHC but my time and some traveling have led me to just be dropped to status of a librarian. (thank goodness! I was dreading the worries) We have a wonderful director who can spend a lot of time on it. I'm relieved I can have more time. Susan
Got mine today Susan, thanks. The two Beatty's in the Bonham list are my uncle and great grandfather. The stories are great reading. I had a Great Uncle Armon Beaty that took a small heard of cattle up to the Indian territory from Fannin county on May 20, 1896. After selling his cattle, he was robbed and killed by outlaws. His folks was able dig up his body about a month later and returned it for burial at Carson Cemetery. The outlaws Lee Langford and Thede Graffenreid stand out now as the most likely suspects. Thanks again, Armond Beaty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hawkins" <hawkins@texoma.net> To: <TXFANNIN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 04, 2002 9:58 PM Subject: [TXFANNIN-L] quarterly & new research places > I checked to see when the quarterlys were mailed and the secretary > mailed them last saturday. Very well could be. Lots of horrible happenings around here in the Good Ole Days. The Red River gave all kinds of interesting flavor to the area. Never a lack of excitement., If there wasn't a flood there was an epidemic, if not an outlaw, there were Indian troubles, if not an explosion, drowning or trainwreck there was a tornado or (yes!) even an earthquake. Never could find a more exciting spot this place beats all. Susan in Texas Armond Beaty wrote: > > Got mine today Susan, thanks.
