Susan: I have photos from a Masters Essay on the Savoy Male and Female College that existed in the late 1800's. There is a picture in front of one of the buildings with all students at the time (circa 1885) shortly before the school burned. I also have photos of the staff, a couple of buildings and an Indian class of students. Would you be interested in these? I hated to but I gave up three major websites so I could have more balance and do better justice to the Grayson County and Fannin County lists and website. I shouldnt' have gotten in so deep ( It was fun though! I was genealogically maxed out! )but I can put in more time starting Monday . I was going to dig up your email and write you about that. Everyso often some people don't leave my mind (or heart for that matter) Dr. Welch is in that latter catagory. I sure would have liked to have known him. I would love a biographical story on him. With Genweb pages there is no limit to sizes of pages so things do not have to be brief. any pictures maps or document scans can be added. susan Oddly , I wonder --- since I believe with no doubts in the hereafter -- am I doing this stuff for now or just so's I'll have lots of friends up there when I get there? Some of your ancestors I have gotten to know so well! Surely it will be an ice breaker when I get up yonder! very much so ! Everything is of interest , family photos , town photos , events, even landscape photos' people who are doing genealogy for Fannin and Grayson often have in their minds the 'look' Texas has from old John Wayne movies! They have no idea of the beauty northTexas has. They think sometimes we are out in a desert with some rattlesnakes curled about our sun roasted feet. The rolling hills and green dales are beautiful . I've also found that other states just don't understand the beauty this place has in its flowers in the spring ( I visited Tenn. this spring and was flabergasted, I thought they had nice wildflowers everywhere too and they only had maybe 10% everywhere I went compared to here!Tennessee is pretty and the area that I saw is not much different in plants except a big shortage of wild flowers and roses) This spring I've stood in a field in Fannin Co. with some 20 acres or so, so solid in Indian blanket it looked like you could walk on it like a yellow and orange floor. They dont' see the extreme colors we get in the fall foliage and probably think that only goes on in the north east. I can go down a road with a white chalky field of cactus and cedar and turn to the other side and see lush grasses and huge oak and pecan trees lining it. We have wide flat expanses where the old flood plains from the Bois d'Arc creek backed up and the Red River flooded to the extreme valleys and hill around Valley creek, I always feel like yodeling there! so photographs that you have taken just for the beauty of the view ( like old barns and bridges etc) could be put in an 'album' set of pages so those who are wanting to know what it is like here could enjoy it) So much to do!
