Gober is in Fannin County between Ladonia and Bonham. I have an aunt buried in the cemetery there. My cousin coached basketball and taught at the high school there for several years From the Texas Handbok Gober, Texas was settled in 1845 at the headwaters of the Sulphur River. It was originally named Grittersville, later renamed in honor of Wesdon and J. F> Gober, owners of a gin and grist mill. In 1890 it was a community of 150 with a Post Office, 3 stores, one church, one school, 3 blacksmith shops, a wood shop and an excellent stone quarry. Rattlesnakes in the rock dens were eradicated here. In 1966, its population was 300. cantorjoeocho@hotmail.com wrote: This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Anybody know where this place was located? All help gratefully appreciated. Also, I am needing info on the McEntyre family and the Crocker family that apparently came with them to TX. Thank you for your help. ==== TXFANNIN Mailing List ==== Threaded Archives Search List by subject line in a time period http://archiver.rootsweb.com/
