This a list from an old floy Hodge book, I have not found it yet and need to. It is on my long to do list. If anyone has any information to how close to the road or anything I need help finding it. I am not sure where it is and spent quite a while a couple of years ago looking for it. I saw a grove of trees off the road I thought it might be in but was unable to walk that far ( i have a handicap which causes trouble walking sometimes) Susan Allen Cemetery South of Ector E off hwy 898 Allen, Malvina Owens 1823-1876 Allen, Martha Ford wife of William R. 1844-1864 Allen, Nettie wife of Sam 1860-1887 Allen, Willie J. dau. of W.J. 1888 Allen, William R. 1840-1921 Bales, Ester A. Thank you Susan! These are the BALES I was looking for. But it makes me wonder where John R. BALES 1st wife (Martha) is buried. She supposedly died in Fannin Co. abt 1874. -- Dennis M. That is how she has it written. Floy Hodge is known to make a lot of mistakes in the transcripts and she often used only part of a name or mixed them up. Also she used years ,never the rest of the dates and they were often wrong as being from another stone in the cemetery etc. For instance in her transcript of Oak Hill cemetery in Whitewright she lists about 35 names and then the sentence "and some other graves..." Well at that time there were nearly 3000 names , of the 35 names listed only 7 were correctly cited though not all the dates recorded. That Ray could be Rayline or a son or Gay or any combination of mistakes. If you don't know who it is then just make a note that another child is there until further info can be found. However her data is important as she did not 'create' the people, if they are listed and if you can tell who she meant then that means the stone was in that cemetery so its an important work. Many of the stones are gone that she caught in her records so I go over the lists whenever I am working on a cemetery because of that. Due to her pattern I have seen in dozens of other cemetery records I wouldn't bet on that being anything you could depend on. She often writes one name if a persons first and middle name are there. So it could be a name like Virginia Ray Bales or something like that ,which is not an uncommon use of Ray in a females names. I hope to find it before winters end. I must be missing something , it would fit under a small group of tree's is the problem. Lots of these are cattle trampled cemeteries and you can literally be standing in the middle of the cemetery before actually seeing it. I just hope it is not one that is plowed under, there are several of those in Fannin County, they are just gone. That area is a huge area of plowed fields, so unless it is in a little bunch of trees that dot the corners of these fields it might be gone. It is one of the largest crop areas of Fannin co.
