Mariah 8/12 TN This kinda looks like it could be a case of sloppy enumeration by the census taker who could have mistranscribed his own scribbling to his formal census sheets. Do you know if Matilda's middle name began with an "E"? I know it's a bit of a stretch but I've seen worse. Plus, by the time the children are teenagers, they frequently change their names. Then Mariah (Maniah?) could be one of the "missing" children. Thomas G. who appeared in 1850 is another one.............Hope this dab is helpful to you.
