Thanks everyone for the for your help. He is my Charles ,have his birth date from family bible records. 1920 census shows him and his wife on Jan 9, enumerated in a hotel in OK , and Jan 19, shows his wife with her daughter and son in law in Honey Grove listed as widow. This is what made me think perhaps he had died 1920. I have looked for a death certificate for TX but not found one. Wifes petition to settle his estate says he lived in Fannin Co. at the time of his death. Esther
Footnote.com IS posting the Texas Death Records 1890 - 1976 but they have started with the early dates and the 1920's are not up yet. Only 2% are done and they are working in the 1910's to 1914's it looks like. Keep your eye on the site and search periodically. It is free to search but you have to pay by the document or by the month or year to view and download the document you want. When was the petition to settle his estate filed?
