Texas keeps death certificates at the county level in the county where death occured and at the BVS in Austin. Eighter can do a death certificate search for you and send you a copy. I believe copies cost $25 You can not obtain a death certiciate for someone dead less than 25 years in Texas unless you are the next of kin. What you might do is as the Fannin County list for someone who can go look at the death certificate for you, if you are not local to Fannin. If you have the information that is on the death certificate, including Book and Certificate number than that should help. Also, the death certificate may iist the name of the funeral home which did the burial. If the funeral home is still in business, you can write them, sending a SASE. They may be able to send you a funeral home record. Funeral home records in many states contain much the same information that is on the death certificate. AND, they will usually send you a copy of their record free of charge or for a very minimal fee. I had one charge me a whole dollar for their time/copying. Hope this helps Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
