John West was born in England before 1765 and came to Buncombe County, NC prior to 1794. He married Martha Whitaker and had several children including Jeremiah West. Jeremiah was born in Buncombe County, NC 1795. He married Mary Whitaker (believed to be a cousin) 1816. Children included James West born 1827 Buncombe County who married Margaret Ann Elizabeth Wilson 1849. Children included Emma Ellen West born 1867 in Jackson County, NC. She married John Raven Senter 1883. Their 15 children included my mother, Florence Della Senter born 1903 in Texas. The West's were prominent Quakers in the Asheville, NC area.
