I checked the Mary's born 1851/52, none show father to be of foreign birth. Thomas and Georgia married appx 1878 and Rufus Allen was born in TX in 1879 yet I did not find the three of them in the 1880 census. Eight children were born to Thomas and Georgia and all of them except Rufus Allen were living when the 1910 census was enumerated. Matilda Shaw Mercer and family went to Denton county TX shortly before 1880.
