Hey!!! Margaret, Looks like you have been busy with your research. After the reunion I sent you a e-mail, but didn't hear from you, did you receive it? Well anyway, I saw your query and wanted to say hi and I looked into your family line. May not be right, but do you think that the S. Parker age 9 in 1860 Rutherford Co, Tenn is yours? M. Parker 45 F born N.C. S.L. '' 23 Clerk Tenn James 21 carriage Maker Tenn H.C. ''13 m Tenn S. '' m Tenn Now in 1850 Rutherford Co, Tenn is: Isaac Parker 40 carpenter N.C. Mary '' 36 N.C. about the same age as 1860 M. Parker 45 N.C. John 14 Tenn Levi 12 Tenn James 9 Samy couldn't read Henry 4 I noticed that Samuel and Dora didn't leave any clues as far as names goes being handed down in the family lines. Did Flora marry a Mose Duckworth? Ora and Flora twins? The Tarpley's were much easier to trace, did you know that Arsenath's maiden name was Barr? Did you know that all of Henry Tarpley's children came to Fannin Co, Texas also? Henry's parents were James A. and Mary E. Tarpley from Va, they show in 1830 Rutherford Co, Tenn. Also part of James and Mary E. Tarpley's children came to Fannin couty. It appears that Edward and Thomas Tarpley were brothers, Edward ended up in the adjoining County of Bedford and Thomas had James A. Tarpley. Also James may have been married twice, first to a Charlotte Dement in 1821 and 2nd to Mary Mosley in 1847, which would make Henry by first wife Charlotte. Henry Tarpley and family are in Rutherford County in 1870 which you probably already know. I believe this line goes back to John Oldham Tarpley and Agnes Moore of Charlotte Co, Virginia around 1775. So you are named after your grandmother Margaret? Which grandmother lived at the lake, where you had a party, back when we were in junior high? Have been busy going to my grand daughter's All Star games in Bonham, we play again today at four and at eight. I have been to the courthouse several times doing research, wish I had of known about your family, where I could have found some records for you. Can't wait to hear from you. I also am unable to find Sam H. Parker in the Texas Death Index, nor can I find a death cert on him; I searched through the Dallas Public Library Genealogy Dept micro films on Fannin or Grayson Cty deaths (Sep 7, 1926). I do find Sam on the Fannin Cty TXGenWeb, Scott's Index site, as being buried at Arledge Ridge Cem/Bonham,TX...but he's NOT listed on a couple of other sources for Arledge Ridge Cem. Re the Samuel H. Parker you found in Prairie, AR in 1870 with Jacob J and Elizabeth H Parker: Although showing this Samuel was born in TN in 1851 (same as my Sam H), I found information that he eventually died in Lonoke, AR on Oct 18, 1888, and is buried at Hicks Cem in AR. Don't think this is my Sam H. Parker. I have lots of info on this Samuel Houston Parker...all the way back to King Edward I of England!! But he's not my man. Sam Harry Parker and Dora Jane Tarpley married Dec 25, 1883 at their home in TX. Their first child, Birdie G., was born Sep 19, 1884 (not 1881) and died Jun 21, 1885. Atheline was Roy H. Parker's daughter (his wife was Margaret). I already had most of what you researched and sent me, but thank you so much for your time and interest!!! Now I need to find info on Sam H. Parker prior to his arrival in Texas. In the 1880 census I find him (age 29) living in Dist. 17, Rutherford Cty, TN. He's a teacher living with the George Farmer family as a boarder. It says his parents were both born in TN, as was he. Dora Tarpley (his future wife) was also living there in Rutherford Cty. Evidently they both came to TX and married on Dec 25, 1883. In the 1870 census I find him (age 19) living in Rutherford Cty, TN, with another family. The record is very poor quality and I'm having trouble deciphering it. Anyway, my search goes on to find Sam's parents and my heritage! Thank you again for your time!
