Thanks, Debra. That's very good information. I do have a few obituaries from relatives buried in Fannin County that I can transcribe and submit. However, I was mainly referring to providing known dates and relationships for individuals that I have researched and are in my database. An example is my great-grandparents that are buried at Grove Hill Cemetery - John Hamilton Carter and Mary Ann Owens Carter. They have individual tombstones that are next to each other but there's no indication either at the grave site or on the web site that they were married. In addition, her father, James Washington Owens, is buried just a few feet away but there's no indication on the website of that relationship. And, his father and mother, Samuel Swan Owens, Jr. and Mary Carter Owens, are buried nearby. And, Mary Carter Owens is related to John Hamilton Carter. There are also a number of tombstones that have only the year and I can provide month and day as well for the notes section. How much detail is wanted? This is the kind of info Suzie can tell me whether she wants it or not. I also have a number of death certificates that I can transcribe and submit. Thanks. The Lamar County web site has a Cemetery and Burial look up index on it. If your person is there that you are searching for, it gives their name, their date of birth, their date of death, the cemetery they were buried in and even the plot number. In most cases......and they are trying to get this for EVERY entry....there will be a copy of the obituary transcribed from whatever newspaper it was in. When someone sends me a request to go lookup an obituary for them, after I find it on Microfilm at Paris Junior College, and before I send it to the requestor....I look at that person on the Lamar County C & B index to see if they are there, if they are not, I transcribe ALL the information, including the obituary information, from the newpaper obit in an email and send it to our countie's website coordinator. She gradually loads what I send on the site. You might be able to just transcribe the obituary information in an email and send it to Suzie. Obits are wonderful and have great information to research with. Just be sure you put at the bottom something like: Transcribed by Mr. Turner. This is to protect you, the Fannin site, Suzie against problems with copywrite issues. Just a suggestion. Thanks. Debra Usry P.S. Debra, I'm glad you jumped in to answer Ron's questions as I don't seem to have the original message???? I DO VERY MUCH want to get all the "connecting tissue" between people buried at not only the same cemetery but across cemetery lines into different parts of Fannin county. I've not been pushing it much as I need to get all the cemeteries loaded so I can deal with a family ONCE and make all the links instead of linking 7 people and having to remember to go back and link 3 others after I get another cemetery loaded. In many cases, a family page which shows the relationships...and, perhaps, links to families of different generations will then link to the interment pages. I'm going to be begging for this kind of detail, just haven't asked yet. I have thousands of new obituaries to add and any new submissions will be happily posted. If the cemetery is already posted for a person, I can add their obit same day if you send me a transcription. I'm also adding complete dates where the tombstones only have years...but I'm adding the source of that information so it is clear that the full dates are not on the stone. I want it to be the best site ever and any added information is ecstatically received! Suzie On Fri, Oct 30, 2009 at 11:37 AM, Ron Turner <turner.rj0815@flash.net>wrote: > Thanks, Debra. Thanks, Suzie. I'll be glad to help out with all of my 'kissing kin'. I'll start work on a spreadsheet that will contain most of the info and will send it once I'm done.
