    1. [TXFANNIN] Abner Gunter reference in Fannin Texas.

    3. Hi, I found this Abner Gunter reference while searching the Fannin County, Texas site. http://www.txfannin.org/book/souvenir/s563.html It says, "Phoebe (Maby), married Abner Gunter, and (he) died during the Civil War, leaving a daughter. Henche P(arham). Mabry educated himself", etc. So this is the marriage of Phoebe Mabry Gunter listed in Wood County, TX in 1860. She and her mother, Linea/Lynea Stallings of GA, were the in-laws of the Lemuel Gunter and Rebecca Williams family and this means that Phoebe Mabry Gunter was not married to Lintus/Lentis Gunter or S.C. Gunter. Well, I knew she was a daughter-in-law. The daughter above would be Ada Gunter born in 1858. So Abner Gunter married again before the Civil War started and Abner fathered Ada. So Abner was married in the 1850s probably in Wood County to Teressa Jane Varner and she died soon after the marriage in 1855 in Wood County. However, it looks like Abner lived into the 1860s and was in the Civil War and died there. However, after Teressa Jane Varner died, he married Phoebe / Phebe Mabry and this would explain why Jesse Lemuel Gunter married or met Emma Carter in Fannin Texas in January, 1875. It suggests that Abner Gunter even lived into the 1870s and Jesse was visiting him. Phoebe G. Mabry was born in Carroll Co, GA in 1838. Her dad is Henche P. Mabry Sr. of Carroll County and the bio talks about Abner married to daughter Phoebe Mabry. Linnia Williams is very interesting. I have her as a Stallings. Could she be a sister of Rebecca Williams that married Lemuel Gunter July 3, 1824 in NC? The Gunters are in Heard Co, GA in 1850. If I believe this account, it appears that Linea Stallings was a married name and Williams was her birth surname. Abner is not in the 1860 Wood County census with the other Gunters. If he was in the Civil War and died there, then he was alive in the 1860 census probably in Texas somewhere. Linea Stallings Mabry was born in 1800 according to the 1860 Wood County, TX census. Was Abner Gunter in the Third Texas Cav with H. P. Mabry? No. Was Abner Gunter in the Civil War? He is not listed in the Sailor and Soldiers roster site. All A. "x" Gunters were confirmed as Addison Yancey Gunter. I doubt Abner was missed as a soldier that died in the Civil War but maybe. He also is not in the 1860 Texas census anywhere in Texas under Gunter. He is not the Gunter in Nacogdoches. he is not in Wood County with his parents or siblings but Phebe G. Mabry Gunter and her daughter are. Does anyone know what happened to Abner Gunter, brother of William Washington, Addison Yancy, Jesse Lemuel, Joseph Harper, Jot, Ike J., etc., Gunter? Wouldn't it be strange if "Linnia / Linea Williams" was the daughter of Levin Williams of NC? Does anyone have more infomation on Henchia / Henche P. Mabry Sr., his family, and descendants?
