Well, aren't you a smarty! I've always made the distinction that an infant was under 2 years and a child 2+ years.... but, to be honest that was just my internal definition and nothing official. I had not considered the possibility of an 8 year old infant... but I'll go with your definition and the photograph of the stone! Suzie, years ago I took a contract law course. Infancy was defined as anyone (not mentally incapacitated) who could not make or sign a contract, without consent of parent or guardian adlitem. I'm so ancient that, at that time, legal age in most states was 21. In today's world it is probably 18. In a genealogy course I took, infancy was LOOSELY defined as someone under age of two or walking age. I seem to recall the course instructor inferring that two was the ascribed age generally used by mortuary personnel. Not sure this information totally resolves issue. Maybe I can find my old early 1990's genealogy course books. Ruth
Don't feel bad Suzie, I had look in the dictionary to make sure that I had it right.
