This is of course from the early days. As far as I know I have no relatives "Holmes" that live in Texas. Most of my Holmes live in Smyth County, Virginia. You might want to try death cerificates. I am not sure if this is the same Floyd born 19 Aug 1932. It looks like his father was T.S Holmes. It looks like they were both born in Georgia. To make the census transcription project at http://files.usgwarchives.org/tx/fannin/census/ even more useful, I have converted it into GEDCOM files, which can be imported into any genealogy software (open a new folder!) and read by a variety of utilities. These free files are a finding aid for the transcription work. The note for each person contains the URL of the exact file where he or she is listed. The files are linked at http://gedcomlibrary.com/vitals.html Tom Alciere

The 1870 Monroe Co.MS census had her as V V WESt Do you know what happened to Vannie's mother, Elizabeth West? She was in the household of her son, Thurston P. (Pinkney) in 1910. However, he died in about 1917 or 1918. I do not know where she went after his death. Do you have a death date and place of burial? Elizabeth's mother was Margaret Jaudon McDow and her father was William Pinkney McDow. I have not been able to find Virgil West either. However, Elizabeth said in 1910 Wood Co.TX that she had 6 children, only 4 living. That would be the 4 that left MS for TX. A huge announcement was made in Salt Lake City at the National Genealogy Conference yesterday that www.familysearch.org has added an astronomical amount of new records to its database. I suspect that in order to add 300 million names to the pilot family search database could cause some hiccups while searching. Here is the announcement link from www.familysearch.org: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Home/News/frameset_news.asp?PAGE=Press/2010-4-28_300_Million_Names_and_New_Tools_Help_Genealogists.asp Hope you are having a great day! Thanks for sending that out, Linda. I had gotten the link last night but not the official announcement of release. The interface is pretty slick but will break us out of our comfort zone for a while. The pilot site is still active at it's old location and will be for a while...they just upgraded that to a new server as well. Here is the list of collections on the Beta site: http://fsbeta.familysearch.org/s/collection/list and here's a link to the beta site so you don't have to go back to the announcement to get it: http://fsbeta.familysearch.org/ Suzie On Thu, Apr 29, 2010 at 7:42 AM, Linda S.
