Looked up in the 1940 Census Index and there were 4 Sadlers. H.F. from Cape Gir'deau, James, Perry County,Jeremiah, Perry Co. & John, Perry County. There was also a Henry Saddler from Stoddard. There were three brothers that arrived in Lannuis in 1857. The brothers names were John, Henry and James. John Sadler (1821-1877 & wife Nancy raised 6 children. John served in the confedederate army in Captain Nicholson's Co. Their children were James F. (b1851), Martha (b 1858) Margaret (b1860) & William, Elizabeth, & Nancy. James S. (b1820-d1942 married Melinda and had 5 children (my sister is named after her) They were Mariah (b1849) John W.(1853-1942) Frank (b 1856) (my ggrandfather) and Sarah, & Allie(b 1864). John W. was married twice He and wife Bell McGee Sadler had 5 children, Haden, Beluah, Blanch, Roy, & John R. Henry (1816-1909) married Mary Stevens.     3. Hi Jan, Yes, I'm pretty sure of the spelling - at least that's the way my great-aunt spelled it. However, I have found my great-grandmother, who we always knew as Melissa Prickett - under the name of Josephine Prickett in one census, another census Pritchett, and on her marriage license Josie E. M. Pickett. So I don't rule out any spelling. Do any of those other names mean anything to you? Roxana
