My grandmother was Lucille Bernie Smith b. 8-11-1909 in Fannin Co., TX. Her parents were Albert Smith (NFI) and Willie Jessie Tacker. I have their marriage certificate that says they were married 1-27-1908 in Fannin Co. In the 1910 census Willie is living back with her dad without Albert and in the 1920 she is with her 2nd husband James Nelson (they married in 1912). Some of my aunts and uncles remember meeting Albert in the 60s but can not tell me anything more about him. Would there be divorce papers? I would love to be able to find out anything abotu him (marriage certificate only had names). So ANY ideas or help would be great. Also how can I find out if there is a birth certificate for my grandmother? thanks so much, Tiffany Hamilton Henderson, NV

Is there anyone that can do lookups in the land and tax records for me at the courthouse? I am needing to see what there might be on Jerome Slater before 1870 and after. We found him in the census for 1870 but no other one and are wondering when he got there and when he left. I also would like to get a certified copy of his marriage record for December 09, 1877 that is there in Fannin County also. Can anyone tell me how I can do that and what it costs? Thanks Connie

Hello, My name is Dan Fulghum, Great-Grandson of James F. and Susan McFarlin. I have a story that my Grandfather William Henry "Cap" Fulghum used to tell us about his first days in Bonham in the 1890s. He had left his home in Humboldt, Gibson County, Tennessee, because of a fued between the Townsends and Fulghums. There had been a shootout, just prior to his departure, during which two Fulghums and two Townsends were killed on the porch of a Humboldt residence. My Grandfather worked his way to Texas on the L&N Railroad. When he arrived in Bonham, he found a local barber and ask for a haircut. The barber began to ask who he was and where he was from. My Grandfather was reluctant at first but told him his name and said he had left because of fueding in Tennessee. When the barber asked where he was from in Tennessee, my Grandfather stated Humboldt. At that point, the barber put out his hand, with a smile, and told my Grandfather he was a Townsend from Humboldt. My Grandfather thought, at first, there was going to be a fight. What he learned, however, was the barber had fled the same feud in Humboldt a couple of years earlier. They became friends and I don't think either of them knew why the two families had been feuding. If anyone knows a Townsend that was barber in Bonham in the 1890s, maybe they can tell me what they know of this incident and the feud. My Grandfather later married Mattie Mae McFarlin in Honey Grove and they had 10 children. Grandfather, five sons and a son-in-law built depots for the Texas & Pacific and Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroads in four states (Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas). That is where Grandfather got his nickname "Cap," for being a railroad crew captain. Grandmother and Grandfather eventually settled in San Angelo, Texas. Surnames: Carter, Mills Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1hB.2ACE/1482 Message Board Post: I am looking for any information on Susan Carter Mills. She married GH Carter in Mississippi in 1879 and moved to Texas in 1890 and settled in the Mount Carmel and Wolfe City area. Mr. Carter passed away somewhere between 1900-1905. Susan later married James(or it could be Emmitt). Susan and GH Carter had six children( Minnie, Andrew, Charley, Green, Raymond and Royal Tillman). Mr. Mills and his first wife had 4 children( William, Lillian, Anna and Henry. In the 1900 census Susan and GH were in Fannin county and in 1920 Susan and James were in Hunt county. Any information would be appreciated.
