We need a few more colloquialisms (I love them, but we are losing 'em). Didn't mean to put a bee in your bonnet, or cause you to get your knickers in a wad. I was raised in a poke and plumb town also-poke your head out the window and you're plumb out of town. Just teasing. Loved your joke. Thanks for all the work you do for us. The quarterlies will be mailed this next week. We take them to the meeting and pass out those who are subscribed there and then mail the rest to save money. You will be on the list. I have two memberships that I picked up last week in my purse to give to the secretary/treasurer to process and they will be added and receive a quarterly when the mailing goes out. The local membership lives scattered over a 50 mile square. I drive two towns away to pick up the mail and another member has a key to pick up the mail if she is going by also. So then we collect all the mail / memberships, queries, advertisements and other quarterlies that are coming in exchange with our group and the next person into Bonham can make the deposits and then notify the treasurer/sec. by email. Then we do an on paper follow up to make sure the person gets on the list properly. Fannin County is a delightfully still rural type of an area. I won't take pictures of it though. its a shameful situation right now, especially with a cemetery only developed in 1963 ! I'm looking for a William N. Parker (b. abt 1838 AR) who married Sarah A. G. (Simcock) USHER (b. abt 1841 Johnson Co.,MO). Sarah was first married to Caton N. USHER (20 sep 1857 Lafayette Co.,MO) until he died in 1860 Fannin Co. Sarah and Caton had a daughter Susan Bell (Sudie) USHER born abt 3 months after her father died. Her mother Sarah (Sallie) married Mr. Parker but I don't know where or when. I find this family in 1870 AR. In 1880 they are back in Fannin Co. Along with Susan USHER are several more children: Henrietta, Jesse, twins Clara and Clarence (b.Fannin Co.1875) and Marietta. After this 1880 census I lose all track of William and Sarah. I don't know where or when they died but I know they died before 1896 which is when Sudie and her husband, F. L. CURLEE sold the property previously owned by William and Sarah. Any clues would be most helpful. Kerry
I am interested in these families because they are descended from my Bullard line. 46. John Gilbert MOORE. Born on 23 Aug 1824 in Claiborne Co., TN. She and George Mitchell, a half-brother, are the only ones who stayed in Texas, all the others went to Oklahoma. I believe George resided in around Bonham and/or Paris, TX most of his life. Actually all I remember about George's family is that he had a daughter named Kaye. Again thanks for your response, Jim Armstrong Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Jim, I have a line of Armstrongs who started out in AL, some in GA, some in TN and some ended up in TX. Several of these Armstrongs married Shugarts. Could this possibly be the line you are researching? The Mitchell (Mertle) that went to Grayson County married a Williamson and she was born in 1881. My best guess is she probably won't show up in Grayson County until around the turn of the century.
