When the soldiers came home from the war in May 1865, a bountiful dinner was served to them just east of the church. They came marching in with guns on their sholders, stacked arms, and then Captain Roderick, uncle of the Fuller brothers and Mrs Cadman, made an address. Next, they drilled, stacked arms again and marched to the tables. That was a memorable day.
