Author: kathyhight Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.fannin/1359.1.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Shelia, I am not doing this genealogy for myself. My husband's mother-in-law from his frist marriage is the daughter of James Edward Hindman & Arah Jurildon Moore. She is now 93 and has given me her notebook full of family names and dates. Her sister has done most of the research over the years, and she is now 89. Whenever I find new information, I take it to her and she fills in stories about all those involved. She would like me to keep this as updated as possible for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. There are not any of them that are currently interested or have the time, but hopefully someday they will. So, that is how the Hight name got involved with the Hindman name. Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.fannin/4138.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you so much for all your hard work. I did finally find Laura and Florence in the 1900 census and 1910 census as Laura Bertam. Florence is just listed as May, no first name. I guess Laura remarried a James or John Bertram and lived in Hutchinson Kansas. The Alva entry must have been an error. Maybe she was visiting her parents at the time and got added in. I don't have any leads on the David May that Laura was married to. All I know is that Florence was born in Fannin in 1888 and that her dad died shortly thereafter. I don't know if that means month or years. Florence's baptism lists her dad as David May and her obit says she moved to Kansas when she was 1, so I am assuming it was after her father's death but don't know for sure. A relative told me that David had died of sunstoke but didn't know when or where. I didn't have a lot of the info on the Hubbards. Thanks for looking all of that up.

We certainly needed guidance in the early 1900's on filing death records that began in 1903. One May death in 1907 in Collin county shows that Grandma May died the 29th of December. As we look for our ancestors putting "grandma" on certificate does not help. Martha M May shows up in Whitewright, Grayson Co, 1910 census as a widow. Grandson, Harold May born abt 1900 and a William P May born abt 1860 in Texas listed as cousin and single, his father from TN and mother AL. Martha indicated her father was from TN and mother Ohio. I can only assume that D B May 1852-1907 was her husband. The Fannin county website cemetery index indicates D B May is buried next to Ellis and assuming that is his son. Ellis D May 15 Sept 1886-8 Jan 1933, married Aileen Kidd 30 June 1924. Information further indicates he, Ellis, "son of Richard and Mattie May". David B May, age 24, and E Mattie M May age 18, are enumerated in Fannin county in 1880. Mattie indicated in 1880 that she was from MO.
