Hello all. Wonder if any of you have info on a Herbert Ray Smith who lived in the Trenton-Leonard area of Fannin County. He would have been born in 1929 or 30 and attended Trenton Grade School in 1938 to at least 1940 or 41. Some of his classmates are trying to find him. Thanks if you can help. Author: stephendcranfill Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.fannin/1191.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: We are relatives through Idella Lee Ford....would like to trade info with you, in particular about William S. and his wife Elizabeth...please feel free to contact me and we can fill in each other's blanks.....we have questions about how you connected Robert Elliott to Idella Ford? Idella is my maternal great-great grandmother who was married to Isaac Havens and my mother, Jeanene Cranfill (Gray) lived with Della up until my mother was 16yrs. in Sherman, Texas....My mother, who is still living never heard Della mention a Robert Elliott, so we have never been able to make a real connection....Where did you get your info about Robert Elliott?? Calvin Ford was killed by Indians between Oct. 1878 and sometime in early 1879. William Ford and Lizzie Rogers and "baby boy Ford" also died in or around 1878-1879. We believe they were also all killed by Indians as the family emigrated from Missouri to Texas.....this was the story that Idella Ford told, but to be truthful, she never m! entioned anyone but her father getting killed by the Indians, however she was only 10yrs. old at that time so it may never have registered with her, or she never foresaw the need to elaborate as her life unfolded, but this is the most likely explanation...Charles was Calvin and Louisa's grandson....You list Lucinda, Amanda, and Idella...there was another sister named Margaret, that Della called "Rett".....Lucinda married Henderson Bailey Shanks, whom you refer to as "Doc"...You show Amanda married to Tom "Havins", and there may be another Tom as Rett married a Thomas Jefferson "Havens".... Finis was indeed a brother, but we can't find much info on him.......The 1880 Hunt Co, Texas census showed Louisa Ford had a 16yr. old nephew, named Jefferson J. Rowden living with her and we don't know who that could be....can you [email protected] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. John A. Ussery died in Harrison Co. 1839. They had a probate case for PP Rains, in Fannin Co, about 1854 and named Ann Eliza (Ussery) Pearson HALF BLOOD DESCENDANT of John. Ann's half sister, wife of PP Rains is named as a WHOLE BLOOD DESCENDANT OF JOHN. The whole and half-blood stuff has me somewhat confused. The other is I would love it if someone would get me a copy of the probate of Preston P. Rains, Sheriff of Rains Co. Why the probate is in Fannin eludes me. Call or email me the cost and I will send a check. Thanks John Philip Adams Baytown

The county courthouse records (and the folks that work in the office there) were very helpful when I was researching my g-grandparents marriage. Since I knew the date, they looked up the marriage - and also discovered that the original was still on file (it had never been picked up). So now I have the actual license, thanks to the good folks in Bonham. Tom ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
