If possible I would like to have some originals (not copied) of the letters, poems and photos as I personally have nothing that had belonged to my grandparents, Eva and Charles Ray BLAKEY. This would mean so much to me to have something of my grandmother Eva's. I would also like to have an original photo of her when she was young as well, this would be a real blessing for me. I would be more than happy to reimburse all copy and postage fees. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you know someone who lives in the Dallas or Houston area and who is willing to do a look-up for you at the "main" library in either one of those cities then you'll be able to secure a copy of death certificate(s) for about a quarter plus whatever "fee" the person who looks up the certificate requests. It is my understanding that library personnel are restricted from mailing out copies of death certificates. If there was an obit in the Bonham paper than you should be able to get an obit from the Bonham library. Depending on where the person lived in Fannin County there may not have been an obit in the Bonham newspaper but one may have appeared in in Sherman, Denison, Whitewright, and/or Honey Grove newspapers. The Leonard newspapers carried obits, but a fire destroyed the newspaper collection for issues before ca 1951 or 1952. Another possibility for obits in Leonard area is the Huntsville newspaper. In Pecan Gap area I've had luck with the Delta County newspaper. I've also had luck with obits in the Honey Grove area appearing in the Paris newspaper. Obits for Ravenna, Mulberry, Savoy and Ector often appeared in the Denison Herald. I've also found some 1930 obits for Leonard and Trenton in the Sherman newspaper. Author: doraalbrecht Surnames: Classification: death Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.fannin/4166.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The only thing I am aware of online is the Texas Death Index, which is available through Rootsweb.com and Ancestry.com. Texas keeps death certificates at the county level in the county where death occured and at the BVS in Austin. Eighter can do a death certificate search for you and send you a copy. I believe copies cost $25 You can not obtain a death certiciate for someone dead less than 25 years in Texas unless you are the next of kin. What you might do is as the Fannin County list for someone who can go look at the death certificate for you, if you are not local to Fannin. If you have the information that is on the death certificate, including Book and Certificate number than that should help. Also, the death certificate may iist the name of the funeral home which did the burial. If the funeral home is still in business, you can write them, sending a SASE. They may be able to send you a funeral home record. Funeral home records in many states contain much the same information that is on the death certificate. AND, they will usually send you a copy of their record free of charge or for a very minimal fee. I had one charge me a whole dollar for their time/copying. Hope this helps Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
