Hi, I am new to the list. I need some information, if someone would be so kind. I am trying to find a town, now long gone, named Omahall. I found it in Fannin County once on a very old map, and I think the map got thrown out. Now, Omahall does not appear at all on the new ones. Does anyone know about this town? My grandmother says she was born there, on her Social Security application. Her father was Sam Burns and mother Mary Harriet or "Hattie" Dean. They were married in Fannin county May 18, 1873. Hattie's family was from MS, Sam was in the Cival War in MO, stated he was 18 (making date of birth about 1846) in LaClede County, MO. I can find no other source of information for the Burns family in MO. His full name was Samuel A. Burns, as stated in Hattie's widow application for pension records. No clue as to what the A. stood for. Anyone know about Omahall? How about the Burns family? Thank you for anything that might help! Peggy

Others were Charlie, Mattie, Minnie, John Thomas and Ellis Harry. Ellis was my grandfather who died before I was born. He named his middle son John Thomas. That was my father who passed away a couple of years ago. There are only a couple of grandchildren of Grandpa Ellis lef, and not much information. Nothing regarding Emmit or James. Bessie Brown Slaughter was my grandmother. Lisa Ruggles posted she found a Bessie J Brown b. 1888, 11 yrs old, Gracie B. Brown as a boarder in the home of William Daniel, Bonham TX.I was told that some families let their children live with other families , because they had so many children to take care. I don't know if that is true or not. Bessie Brown married Dudley Richard Slaughter in 1905, Bonham, TX. Had a child Louis Charles Slaughter, b.1907, Bonham, TX. They moved to Ardmore, OK and must have divorced there, but can't find records. In 1930 Grandfield OK census,I found Bessie Lawn with her child Louis 12 yrs old. No name for husband he was not listed on census. Posted for a Lawn, no answer. Cannot find death certificate or Soc Sec. card for her, so I don't know what else to look for. I do know if this is the right Bessie Brown or not, but I want to thank you so very much for sending information. Maybe you can telling me what I should do in searching? I am thinking I have heard my dad and uncle say that "Uncle Willie" and "Aunt Johnnie" were buried in a cemetery at Vernon, Texas. The Nunn family finally settle near there, and I think some of the children lived near Lawton, OK at one time. Some of the old post cards mention Honey Grove, Fannin Co, Pecan Gap, Big Springs, Farmersville, Hunt Co, Caddo Mills, Greenville. There is also a Pat Atkinson that post cards are written to. He may be related on the Jeffords side of the family or just a friend. I will check a census and try to get Nunn names. I was just checking out the name, and I saw that posting about the accident of William Nunn. Thanks for your time. "Tempie" (short for Temperance, her grandmother HARRIS' name) was the only surviving daughter of David Gilbert and Martha HANCOCK SUDDERTH (there were also 11 sons) and was the great-aunt of my husband. She and Harry moved to Petrolia early in the 20th century, but were back in Leonard, Fannin Co., by the 192 census. I believe they lived in Floydada, TX, in 1929. Both Harry and Tempie are buried in the Leonard Cemetery. I have no information about their children and, in fact, am not even certain of their names.
