Barbee, b ca 1809 in Georgia, died in Arkansas and his wife Rhoda Barbee(maiden name unknown), b ca 1811 in Tennessee, who immigrated to Barron Town, Independence County, Arkansas about 1849. Wylie was the fifth of nine known children–all born in Tennessee: John Barbee, b ca 1835 ; twins Evelina and Malinda Barbee, b ca 1835; Joseph Barbee b ca 1838; Wylie Edward, b 1840; Virgil Barbee, b ca 1842; Marcus(Mark), b 1844; Letitia Barbee, b 1848 ; and Melissa Barbee, b 1848. Wylie Edward Barbee enlisted in the Condederate States Army during the Civil War–serving first in Hood’s Army, Cheatam;s brigade, 13th Arkansas Regiment, and then transferred to John Shelton’s Company. After the war, he returned home, where on October 7, 1874, he was married to Frances Elizabeth Goodwin, b 1844 in North Carolina, d February 25, 1921 in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas. After Wylie’s death, “Fannie” and her two daughters came with the family of her brother-in-laws came with the family of her brother-in-law, Mark Barbee, to Falls County, and settled at Hog Island where Fannie purchased a few acres of land from James Larkin Conoly. When she had to appear in court to collect an insurance policy that Wylie had left her, it was Henry Littleton Bennett who paid her hotel bill in Marlin, and did not charge her a dime for his services–thought to be a relative. Also living at Hog Island was Henry Goodwin, b 1838 in North Carolina, who was thought to be her brother, and who later married Elizabeth Menefee—daughter of Thomas Strother and Lucinda(Barclay) Menefee. Fannie later sold the small farm at Hog Island, and moved to the corner of Vale and Bridge Streets in Marlin, and it was there that she lived until 1910 , when she moved to Waxahachie, where her daughter, Bettie, lived. Wylie and “Fannie” had twin daughters, but one survived, and they then had another daughter: Lela Frances Barbee. B 1866 in Arkansas, d 1884 —married in 1882 to John William Yates, b ca 1860 in Texas—a son of William B. and Elizabeth(Sipes) Yates, of Kentucky, who moved to Missouri and subsequently to Texas by 1860, and to Falls County after the Civil War. Infant daughter–twin to Lela Frnces Barbee, b 1866 in Arkansas, d 1866 in Arkansas. Bettie Barbee, b 1870 in Arkansas—married Oscar Cole, b ca 1867 who worked at Dr. JohnWalter Torbett’s Bathhouse, until he and Bettie moved to Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas. They had one daughter, Roby Cole.
