He married in 1884 to Mary (“Mollie”) Dickson, b September 17, 1864, d January 9, 1933 — a daughter of James Lawrence and Martha C. (Ellington) Dickson, and they made their home in Marlin, Texas. Charles Henry Bartlett became the first native-born mayor of Marlin, in 1892. They were very active in the social, cultural, and civic affairs of their community, and reared six children: Madeline Bartlett, b December 3, 1884, d September 30, 1964 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas by her first husband — was married first on March 5, 1922 to Frank Oltorf (called “Peck”), b March 11, 1885, d March 9, 1936 — a son of Thomas Clifton and Sarah (Calvert) Oltorf. She married second in 1940 to Elbert Beard Holloway, b July 5, 1880 in Pineapple, Alabama, d August 25, 1949 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried in Calvary Cemetery — a son of Joseph Newton and Terressa (Beard) Holloway. Mary Bartlett, b January 3, 1887, d August 13, 1970 and buried in Calvary Cemetery — who married Andrew E. Rutter, b April 17, 1892, d April 26, 1963 and buried in Calvary Cemetery. Thomas Battle Bartlett, b November 20, 1889, d July 14, 1963 and buried in Calvary cemetery in Marlin — who married Elizabeth Graves Harlan, b January 11, 1890 in Falls County, Texas, d December 1964 and buried in Calvary cemetery — a daughter of Zill Isaiah and Maude (Graves) Harlan. Zenas Bartlett, b March 22, 1892, d December 28, 1953 and buried in Calvary Cemetery. He never married. James Lawrence Bartlett, b February 19, 1894, d April 10, 1909 and buried in Calvary Cemetery. Charles Henry Bartlett, b June 14, 1899, d March 29, 1965 — married Pearl Bogar. Charles is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin.
