    1. Re: Hilda Sharpe Carnahan postcard -- mystery
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Carnahan Hilliard Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0hB.2ACE/1539.1 Message Board Post: Corrections: I've been researching the Carnahans in Shelby County Texas, because two married my ancestors (CT HIlliard's daughters: Susan America & Missouri Elvira Hilliard). The Carnahans were from Ohio, & some lived in Portage County Ohio. Falls County Texas: Elzaphan F. Carnahan (who married Missouri Hilliard) was in the laundry business in about 1900. According to the newspapers at your website, he was probably in Falls County TX for much of 1902. Four brothers: Elzaphan F., Clark McCann, William G., & David Slater Carnahan Their uncle: David S. Carnahan (D.S.) David S. (D.S.) Carnahan (lawyer, county judge, Center TX, married Susan America Hilliard), came to Shelby County first in the 1860s. [Their son was named David S. (Dee S.), so there were three David S. Carnahans in this area, for a while.] His four nephews (listed above) followed later. All were from Ohio. William G. stayed in Shelby County. The others moved around. Elzaphan returned at times. Clark McCann Carnahan returned to & lived in Ohio, & after marriage, in Portage County Ohio. However, Clark didn't have children. These clues might help solve your mystery of the postcard with "port..." written on it. Susan Williams
