I am researching the death on 25 Sept 1885 of Orange County Sheriff J C FENNELL (or FENNEL or FINELL). I have located his unmarked grave at Evergreen Cemetery in Orange county and cemetery records indicate his name was FENNELL and he was born on 29 Jan 1853. Sammy Tise's book Texas County Sheriff reports his name as FENNEL. I cannot locate a census on him in Texas for 1870 (age 17) or 1880 (age 27) and have no family information. The 1870 census for Falls County did have a Absalom FENNEL with an 18-yoa son named Jasper that could be him. If anyone knows if Jasper FENNEL could be J C FENNEL who died in Orange County I would appreciate the assistance.
