    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0hB.2ACE/1440.1.1 Message Board Post: Pauline, Thank you very much for the information. My mother was named after her aunt Vlasta whose maiden name was Simecek. According to family records, she died on August 28, 1931 at the age of 29; my mother was 3 years old at the time. Her family were Czech immigrants who farmed around the Central Texas area. They always questioned her death, maybe because she died suddenly. I believe she was pregnant at the time. The family would not have had the means to look into the circumstances of her death in 1931, and I know my grandmother spoke very little English. I was going to try to find a death certificate and the obituary that would have appeared in the Marlin Democrat. Thank you again, and if you ever learn anything more I would appreciate you sharing it with me. Debbie Havlik

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Gardere Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0hB.2ACE/1440.1 Message Board Post: Vlasta Simich/Simick/Simeok (b.1 Dec 1902-TX) was the second of the three wives of Jean Paul Gardere (b. 3 Mar 1875-Aurignac, FRANCE d. 2 Nov 1944). They married sometime after the death of his first wife Mary McLendon in 1924. Vlasta is found living with her widowed mother, Mary, and sister Jessie(?) in the 1920 US Census Falls Co. TX , Marlin ED 71 Sheet 3B (Ancestry.com image 6). She is also reported in the 1930 US Census Falls Co. TX, Marlin, Precinct 1 (Ancestry.com Image 2) living with her husband Jean Paul Gardere. Also in their household is her widowed mother Mary Simich/Simick/Simeok. The spelling is derived from the Census images so I would appreciate it if you would let me know the correct spelling of her maiden name. John Paul Gardere was the owner of a dry goods company known as Gardere & Halloway. He had three children by his first wife Mary McLendon: George Pierre Gardere (b. 31 May 1898-TX (probably Galveston) d. 9 Jun 1973-Cameron Co., TX); Jean Paul Gardere. Jr. (b. 24 Nov 1899-TX (probably Galveston) d. 13 Nov 1944-NYC, NY); and Lucille Marie Gardere [Miller] (b. 25 Apr 1902-Falls Co. TX d. Mar 1981-Calcasieu Parish, LA). Only Lucille was present in the household at the time of the marriage between Jean Paul Gardere and Vlasta. Lucille married Ernest Martin Miller in 1930. According to my Gardere cousins, Vlasta at one time served as the nurse for Jean Paul Gardere who had been in ill health. She was employed as a receptionist in the 1930 US Census. Jean Paul Gardere was the son of my gg-aunt Marie Charlotte Adoue [Gardere]. He emigrated to Galveston, TX sometime between 1891 and 1893 to work for his Uncle (Louis) Bertrand Adoue, a prominent Galveston banker and financier who also emigrated from France with his two brothers, Jean Baptiste Adoue (a prominent Dallas Banker) and my gg-grandfather Jacques Adoue (a banker and businessman in Calvert, Robertson Co., TX) . Jean Paul Gardere was educated in a Catholic Seminary in France which was commonly referred to as a "poor man's university". Vlasta is buried in the Calvary Cem.-Falls Co., TX but unfortunately only her DOB is indicated. If you have been able to confirm her DOD, I would appreciate knowing it. I hope this information helps. I have Joseph's wife's name as "Julia Tumps Lewis", vs "Tump" as I've seen on internet sources. Either way, I'm not sure of her ancestry. One source lists her parents as Napoleon B. Lewis (born AL) and Mary Charlotte Magee/McGee (born MS), but I can't confirm it. Do you have anything more on her? I have Joseph's parents as Nathaniel Windham and Mary Jane Jacobs, both born in Calcasieu Parish, LA. Mary Jane's parents are Elisha Jacobs (born in Plymouth Co, Mass in 1790) and Caroline Bass (born 1811 in Miss). Do you know the origin of the "Tecumseh" name in the family? The furthest back I've found is Joseph's uncle (Mary Jane's eldest brother) Joseph Tecumseh Jacobs. Your're welcome to any info I have! Donna (redhouse06@yahoo.com)

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Fleming, Tyson, Parker, Capers, Bland, Blair, Berg, Glaesman Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0hB.2ACE/1475 Message Board Post: I'm trying to find the married name of my great-Aunt Amelia "Milcie" Fleming. After Amelia (Milcie) Fleming got married she and her husband moved to Ft Bend County in the Richmond-Rosenburg area. I am trying to find out her married name and in what cemetery she is buried. Milcie's parents were Andrew and Amelia Fleming who were born in Scotland. Milcie may have been born in Texas but her older siblings, Andrew, Jr "Buddy" and Mary, were born in New Jersey. It is my understanding that Milcie's mother died giving birth to her. She and her sibs may have been raised with their father by his mother-in-law Mary Dugan/Duncan(?) who was also from Scotland and was 65 at 1880 Census. My grandmother was a half-sister to Milcie. At age 16 my grandmother took the railroad train, possibly from Rosebud, to Richmond to visit Milcie and her husband. That was most likely around 1905. If Milcie is one of your ancestors I'd love to hear from you. If anyone knows how I might find Milcie's married name I'd appreciate hearing from you, too.

    1. [TXFALLS] Burke Family Bible
    2. Jody Dillard
    3. Are their any descendents of the Jesse Odle Burke and Mary Elizabeth Walker families on this list? I have a family Bible that I bought from someone (maybe on this list) but, I would really like to see it in the hands of someone who is a direct descendant. So I would be willing to sell it for what I paid for it. There are several hand written pages of birth, death and marriage records. Let me know if you are aware of any of their descendants. They lived near Reagan and also in Navarro County. Thanks, Jody Dillard

    2. Billie J. Gage
    3. As mentioned in my earlier message, I don't have a lot about the Schillings specifically, but my mother graduate from Eddy High School in 1927 and had lived there most of her life having moved from Independence Co., AR when she was 5. I have some of her graduation articles including a picture of the graduating class and a autograph book that contains small notes from her friends. On a trip I made to Eddy a few years ago, I found at the City Hall a nice wall of photographs relating to the history of the area. Among those pictures was a copy of the senior class picture my Mother had. Here are the names of her senior class: Charlie Baker Frank Baker Althea Shields Irue Woodard (my mother) Noma (sp) Williams Laverne Jones Benton Allen Susie Ingram Grace Wadill Grady Stewart Herbert Lewis Ross Greenlee Josephine Watson Mary Louise Carter Vivian Whaley In other papers of Mother's she lists several of the marriages of the group, but I don't have those copied as yet. Seems like there's not much time when you start down the ancestors search path. I hope this helps. I know it's not much, but sometimes all we need is a clue. If I can be of more help, let me know. 3. My Mother's family lived in Eddy, Texas and she is buried in the Eddy Cemetery, McLennan Co. I believe there are some Schillings buried there also. I don't have a lot of information, but this little bit might help. My mother was Margaret Irue Woodard Reid. Her parents were Gordon Irue and Margie Bland Woodard. I do remember them mentioning a farm that was referred to as the "Schilling Place." Sorry I don't have more.
