I am researching the EAKIN family from Falls County. My gg-grandfather was Robert James EAKIN. He and my gg-grandmother Amanda Jane Stidham raised 11 children in the Chilton area. Most of them are buried in Carolina Hills Cemetery or the Chilton Cemetery. I am also trying to find out about the RODDEY family. My great-grandfather James Isom EAKIN married Willie E. RODDEY in 1905. I haven't been able to locate any of the RODDEY family though. I do know from a great aunt, that Willie's mother's maiden name was WHITAKER. In another line of my family, I am researching the POLK family....Elias Franklin POLK (a new discovery) is buried in Chilton Cemetery also. He was married to Sallie LADD in the 1860's. I don't know much about him. Thanks. Pat Hargus Sommerfield

My great grandfather was John HUBER married Cundigunda ROMMING. Their daughter Matilda HUBER married Roy H.SHIELDS. I live in Waco, have 4 children and 11 grandchildren. Run a home business and stay on the computer too much. Billie Brem [email protected]

L B and his second wife came to Robertson Co, TX by way Alabama and settled in the Hearne, TX area a decade or so after the Civil War. Nancy Lee Anna was the daughter of Vincent Jefferson Brown and Temperance Gentry Brown who also came from Bartow/Polk Co, GA right after the Civil War. I am searching for information about the family of Phillip/Philip A. HAIRSTON. He was born in Hinds County, Mississippi in 1852. His parents were John L. (abt 1812 SC or GA) and Eliza (abt 1821 GA) HAIRSTON. The family moved to Falls County around 1866. Phillip married Lodema CRISWELL in 1873 and they moved to Erath County where they resided for more than 20 years before leaving for Baylor County. Phillip and Lodema had only one child, Myrtie HAIRSTON BRYAN (1880), my grandmother. I am searching for the families of Phillip's siblings in hopes to obtain more information about the HAIRSTON family. Possible siblings of Phillip A. Hairston: Permelia HAIRSTON m. Joseph Sidney NOAH. Permelia died in 1928 and is buried in Erath County. Mattie HAIRSTON (b.1858) m. (1)_______CHISUM (2) J. A. THOMPSON in Erath in 1884. Mattie may have had a daughter Stella CHISUM who married William GRESHAM and they had children Jack, Rex, and Hugh. Mattie also had the following THOMPSON children: Floyd D., Aaron, Phillip A. and at least two other children. Mattie died in 1931 and is buried in Erath County. Mary HAIRSTON (1840) may have married a Thomas B. GILBERT. Jane or Sarah Jane HAIRSTON (1845) was probably not married. William HAIRSTON (1846) Adeline HAIRSTON (1849) James HAIRSTON may also have been a brother. He died in Falls County in 1905. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. I am like everyone else, I guess. I am looking for any information I can find on the Powell family that lived in Falls County during the mid to late 1800's. My great grandparents (John & Nancy Powell) are buried in the Powell-Tull Cemetery in Chilton. John died and was buried in March, 1889 and Nancy in July, 1903. I have two lists of names of persons who are suppose to have been buried in this same cemetery, but there are not near enough markers to know if these are accurate. I am hoping that someone has additional information and is willing to share it with me. I will certainly be glad to do the same. The information I have obtained from the internet, Falls County has many cemeteries. Any of these cemeteries could have Powell ancesters buried there. If there is someone I can make contact with, that might have a cemetery register of names for these cemeteries, I would appreciate being contacted. I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm not sure where to go next. I need you help. Thanks John E. Powell, Sr. [email protected]
Will the person seeking information about the family of Dr. White please send me their e-mail address. I have a referral to give you. Jean [email protected]
The Marlin Libary is located at 301 Winter Street Marlin Tx 76661 there is only 1 lady, one microfilm, that will not print, so if she finds a obit, she needs alot of info. not just a year, and because of having to hardwrite , then type, and to cover maybe getting a new microfilm, the cost is $5.00, for obit, and other things. I don't think she charges if she does find it. I am looking for any info on Mitas White, he an d his wife Mary A. Keahey White lived in Marlin, Falls County Texas. Their children are listed in a family bible as being born in Marlin, their kids are Joe Si Maben White, b. May 10, 1877 in Marlin, Sarah Isabell White b. Apr. 29,1882 in Marlin, and a Sam Houston White b. 1868 in Marlin. Sarah was married to Emerson Alvey in Falls County in 1901. In Sarah's bible she said her father was a doctor. I have been unable to find any proof of them being in Falls Co. except for Sarah's marriage record. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Matias White's first name might have been Thomas. The only other family lore is that Joe Si Maben White was in the Spanish-American War. If anyone knows how I would go about finding proof if he was in that war, please let me know. I've hit a brick wall with this family. Thanks, Teresa Moore Smart ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Don't forget this valuable resource. Texas also has census records beginning in 1850. You can write or visit the Catholic Arhives of Texas at this address: 1600 N. Congress, P. O. Box 13327, Capitol Station, Austin, Texas 78711 or call (512) 476-4888. They do charge $10/hour and $2.50 per record found or you can do your own research. You must know the name of the church or parish and/or the area (county) they lived in. There is no central index of names. My ancestors came to Texas in 1846 and my husband's in 1889. We have found a wealth of information through church records. Each church was responsible for keeping their own records. Some records were destroyed in fires as was the case in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Grimes County. "The earliest Catholic churches in what is now the State of Texas were: San Fernando (in modern day San Antonio) established 1739, San Elizario (El Paso), established 1777, San Augustin (Laredo), established 1789, St. Mary's (Victoria), established 1840, Sacred Heart (Nacogdoches), established 1847, and smaller missions sponsored by these churches. In 1847, the Diocese of Galveston was founded and new parishes were established."
