Posted on: Falls County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Falls/536 Surname: Rogers, Stovall, Aycock ------------------------- We corresponded aver a year ago but I haven't done much on this line lately. I was in Falls County in Aug looking for a will on Larkin Rogers. He died without a will. I needed to prove that Nathanial was his son. My husband has applied for membershiip in Sons of the American Revolution and is using this line for membership. Larkin was declared ill with lunacy and unable to take care of his affairs. A guardian was appointed for him. Nathanial Rogers died in 1878 leaving minor children. Larkin Rogers died in 1882. His grandchildren inherited land. The guardian of Nathanial Rogers sold the land to support the children. By using the documents and census I was able to prove the Estelle Rogers, daughter of Nathanial Rogers was the Grandaughter of Larkin Rogers and the daughter of Nathanial Rogers therefore Nathanial Rogers was the son of Larkin Rogers. I do not have dates for your family but would like to correspond privately. Sally Smith

Posted on: Falls County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Falls/532 Surname: Miller ------------------------- Am trying to find gravesite of my GGGrandfather, John H. Miller. He was born 7/1810 in Sullivan County, TN as oldest child of Thomas and Jemima Hicks Miller. This east Tennessee Miller family moved to Grayson County, TX in 1850's. Information I have is that John H. was living in 1876 in Falls County, TX. At this time, he was married to one Prudence Davis Wells Miller. Do not know date of his death, but it is believed to be between 1882-1883 - possibly in Falls County. She died in 1901 in Sterling City, Texas. A look at cemetery listings for Falls County on this website does not show a John Miller. Any help would be appreciated. Will gladly share information I have on this family.

Posted on: Falls County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Falls/526 Surname: Roberts, Garrett ------------------------- HI! I don't know much about the Roberts, butmyhusband's ggrandfather was Joseph Edward Roberts, as best we can tell his ggrandmother was Josephine Smith Roberts from Graham, Young county, TX. We don't have much more there. They had 8 children, Fanie, Loyd, Odie, Tony, Dan, Mayburn, Nolie, Lena. There were a slew of cousins that I am researching, to find Joseph's siblings, I hope. There was a family of Willis and Ollie Fay Hudson Roberts, whose children were; Dolly, Lemuel, Arizona, Monroe Dale, Nellie May, Willie and Evans Chester. Monroe Dale and Evans Chester both married Garrett girls from Llano county, I think. Monroe Married Goldie Jewell, and Evans Chester married Dura Sonora. They both had children that I researched through the Taylor county birth records. Bertha Mae Garrett, Goldie and Dura's sister married SD Roberts and I would love to know whohis parents are. I also found; an EC Roberts, different from Evans Chester, who married and Ibera Garrett, and a WJ Roberts who married a Gladys Garrett. Does any of this sound familiar to you? My email is [email protected] Thanks for your time.

My apologies to everyone for sending that "messed up" message previously. I should have known to cut and paste first. My mistake. Here is the message again and hopefully you can read the whole thing. Again, sorry if you receive this on more than one list but felt it was important enough to be forwarded to everyone. I am not in any way promoting this website or any other website. Vanessa ----- Original Message ----- Subj: Genealogy scam Date: 09/03/2000 6:30:57 AM Mountain Daylight Time From: [email protected] (Phyllis Fleming) I received this message after it was forwarded to the INGENWEB state coordinator: About 2 weeeks ago we received a complaint from an Archives submitter that her materials were found on a genealogy subscription service: www.familydiscovery.com The submitter was able to do a little digging and found that they were linking to her files housed on her server, but shrink-wrapped inside a frame so it appears to be THEIR work. About 10 days ago, to investigate this, I signed up with familydiscovery. To date, I have not received a user id or password to get inside. The registered owners of the web site gave bogus telephone numbers in their registration. One number goes to a recorded message line; the other to a carpet company. Some of the e-mail adds on their web site bounce. Standing on the outside and looking through the window, it appears that several folks' web sites have been prize-mined: http://www.familydiscovery.com/whatsnew.htm The Storey Co., IA and the Washington Co., PA stuff seem to come from USGenWeb sites. Some of the other IA and NC stuff seems to come from non-USGW sites. None of the materials seem to be housed at either rootsweb or usgennet. If anyone out there is or has been a member of familydiscovery -- or has been ripped off by them, I ["Joy Fisher" [email protected]>] would like to hear from you.
