I would like to purchase a copy of "Families of Falls Co." as well. Can any one help those of us who are interested? Billee Ingram
Hi Pat, You are the first person I have seen that used the Clayton Library in Houston. I live in California and took my summer vacations at the Clayton Library for about 10 years. It is the most wonderful place for family research that I have found. I highly recommend it. I have families who lived in Falls Co. They were the Williams/Williams families. Confusion isn't it. Do you know if there are any Williams' listed in the book you are talking about. Happy Hunting, Billee Ingram
Posted on: Falls County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Falls/691 Surname: ------------------------- Thanks for your reply. I would love to swap info with you. I have all the info on the Eakin line from Families of Falls County. My mother's cousin Ed Eakin put me on track about the book. He lives in Austin. I noticed there IS some mis-information, also the way some of the paragraphs were laid out it is a little confusing as to where some of the children go, but it wasn't hard to figure out. My mother was an Eakin. Her father was Carson Leonard (or Leonard Carson) Eakin, son of James Isam (Isom) Eakin, son of Robert James, son of David & Mary McIntire Eakin. I have been to the cemetery in Chilton (full of Eakins) and also Carolina Cemetery. I have lots of information, and do want to be sure it is correct. I will contact the Historical Society and try to find out about the book. Thanks. Meanwhile if you want to swap info, feel free to email me. Pat

I will have to search the cemetery when I am up that way again. The Clayton Gen. Library in Houston (I go to abt once a week) has the book Families of Falls County. It is a city cemetery and records are very few. I was there in January, 2001 doing some research. The only way I came up with any help was by going to the Funeral Home in Marlin. They had some records of burials there. The Falls County Texas GenWeb has some records on their site. I have the book, "Families of Falls County". There are several Eakin's listed. Posted on: Falls County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Falls/682 Surname: Eakin, Roddey, Polk, Barker ------------------------- I saw your post to the Falls County Board. We have a surname in common....Roddy. However mine was spelled Roddey. But I have learned that they are very likely the same name. Who was your Roddy? My great-grandmother was Willie E. Roddey (1888-1921) daughter of William Edward Roddey and Amanda Barker. Willie was married to James Isam Eakin. I do know she had a brother Garrett Roddey. They are all three buried in Carolina Hills Cemetery near Chilton. Where is Calvary Cemetery located? Are there any Roddy's there? I am curious as I have posted before and get very little if anything on any of the surnames I have listed. Any little bit helps and will get me started. Thanks Pat

Have learned that a few years ago a Falls County court sold the Family Bible of my GrtGrandfather Redding. If anyone can help us trace this Bible, it will be most deeply appreciated. Would, of course, love to have the Bible. But if not, would appreciate receiving a copy of the family information recorded therein. Thanks in advance for any help rendered. Elaine

Can anyone tell me where Rosebud is in Falls County? I am trying to look through the 1900 Census and I need to figure out what precinct it is in. It does not list Rosebud. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paula LeMasters Oregon
I am researching the Lockhart Family. Napoleon Lockhart came to Falls Co., TX after the Civil War. He is listed on the 1870 Census as Napolean Lockhard. He married in 1874 in Coryell Co. and ws on the Census there in 1880. In 1900, he was back in Falls Co. He worked for a Railroad according to family stories. He died in Durango in September of 1903. He was supposed to have been buried in a cemetery "Near Lott"., but i have not been able to find any record in any of the cemeteries nearby. I have no idea if they had funeral homes there or what burial records might exist. If anyone has seen any mention of him or his family, please let me know. There were other "Lockhards" on the 1870 Census too, and I'm trying to find any siblings, cousins etc to get some clues about his ancestors. Thanks, Larry *************************************************** Researching Campbell Lockhart
