Hi, I guess you know where the Evans- Crockett cemetery is- it is not fenced nor maintained. One Gillentine is there or in Rumph - Beech cemetery a few hundred yardas north and is fenced with Rock. The unfenced cemetery was used by Pony Creek Baptist and Box Methodist church and school and lodge hall, a few yards from each other. It is in front of and, to the right of the Pony Creek Church on the hill in a clump of Cedars, I grew up with John Ben Rumph, a Beech grandson. The cows keep the plots clean except for cedar damage and cave ins. Watch for big rattlesnakes. I found one larger than the calf of my leg once, but short- about 4 feet. The new Pony Creek-Box is behind the church and well maintained. The old one needs moving or maintaining. When the Bulldozers cleared some land, John told them to not disturb the old one unfenced. The last I saw the headstones were there and widely spaced- apparently several unmarked graves with fieldstone markers.Ruby Beech Rumph was our first grade teacher at Johnsville.
